Your Role
Role Overview:
We are seeking a highly skilled and security-cleared Azure Cloud Engineer with strong Database Administration (DBA) capabilities to join our team. The ideal candidate will have hands-on experience managing and migrating databases to Azure SQL PaaS, and proficiency in a range of database technologies including MSSQL, PostgreSQL, MySQL, MongoDB, MariaDB and Oracle. This role also includes broader cloud engineering responsibilities, supporting secure, scalable, and high-performance cloud infrastructure for government and enterprise clients.
Key Responsibilities:
- Lead and execute end-to-end database migration projects to Azure SQL PaaS.
- Administer and optimise databases.
- Implement and manage backup, recovery, and disaster recovery strategies.
- Monitor and troubleshoot database performance, availability, and reliability.
- Ensure compliance with Australian Government security standards and policies.
- Design and implement secure, scalable cloud infrastructure.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to ensure cloud best practices.
- Collaborate with security teams to implement cloud security controls, encryption, and compliance frameworks.
- Participate in cost optimization and resource governance initiatives.
- Assist in planning and executing cloud migration strategies.
- Participate in discovery, assessment, and cutover activities.
- Ensure compliance with security and architecture standards.
Your Profile
Required Technical Skills:
- Proven experience with Azure Cloud Services, especially Azure SQL Database (PaaS). Experience with Azure Data Migration Service and other migration tools. Proficiency in PowerShell for automation and scripting.
- Familiarity with Azure DevOps, CI/CD pipelines, and Git.
- Strong understanding of networking, security, and identity management in Azure.
- Experience with monitoring, logging, and alerting in cloud environments.
- Proficiency in a range of database technologies including MSSQL, PostgreSQL, MySQL, MongoDB, MariaDB and Oracle.
- Understanding of IAM, networking, and cloud security.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Microsoft Certified: Azure Database Administrator Associate
- Microsoft Certified: Azure Administrator Associate
- Familiarity with government cloud environments and compliance frameworks
