Senior SRE

About the job you’re considering

We’re seeking passionate Site Reliability Engineers who want to grow their career and delight customers through a hybrid of project and foundational activities. We take a modern approach of working collaboratively internally and externally to achieve high levels of satisfaction both for our clients and ourselves collectively. We achieve this through focused groups of technical people, known as Pods, coming together to deliver and maintain services to UK clients. The strength of our pods lies within our people, fostered by a supportive team culture. Our ideal candidate would thrive in such an environment.

Hybrid working: The places that you work from day to day will vary according to your role, your needs, and those of the business; it will be a blend of Company offices, client sites, and your home; noting that you will be unable to work at home 100% of the time.

Due to the nature of the client to be supported, successful candidates should expect there will be regular on-site engagement and so travel to site will be required.

Your role

As an integral part of a Cloud Pod, you’ll have fantastic opportunities to develop both yourself and our collective capabilities as you progress both project and foundational requirements with other likeminded SRE’s and Cloud Engineers. As part of the team, you’ll be empowered to:

  • Build and maintain platforms with a high degree of focus on technical reuse, standardisation and blueprints; think “GitOps” not “ClickOps”.
  • Fully embrace modern ways of working and feel invested our customer’s outcomes as we group around activities in agile sprints, and within error budgets.
  • Continue to strengthen and bolster your existing capabilities in site reliability through a mix of professional training, certifications, and experiences, as well as mentoring and developing the skills of others.
  • Collaborate and influence our iterative Capgemini offerings.
  • Successful candidates will be supporting Critical National Infrastructure, and as part of this be part of a regular on-call rota

You can bring your whole self to work. At Capgemini, striving for equity, diversity and inclusion is part of everyday life, and will be part of your working reality. We have built an inclusive and welcoming environment, for everyone.

Your skills and experience

A proven track record in Site Reliability Engineering operations, with hands-on experience in OpenShift, and Kubernetes is a must, with certifications such as CKA or CKS proving advantageous. Ability to support and troubleshoot OpenShift Operators (ServiceMesh, ODF, ACS, ACM, AMQ), as well as Service Mesh (Istio). Skilled in designing and operating within a complex multi-cloud/hybrid ecosystem, with a solid understanding of distributed systems. Proficient in observability stacks such as Prometheus, Grafana, Loki, and Tempo. Hands on experience with EDB Postgres for enterprise-grade database solutions. Ability to develop and maintain Infrastructure as Code (IaC) using tools like Kustomize or Helm, as well as proficiency in Bash and Python. Ability to empower the continual development of team members’ skill sets in this area with sharp mentoring skills whilst promoting SRE best practice is highly desired. Experienced with managing CI/CD pipelines in a GitOps fashion using Tekton, ArgoCD, or FluxCD. Experience with Submariner for networking would also be beneficial, alongside experience working in secure environments. Familiarity with Red Hat Advanced Cluster Management (ACM) and Advanced Cluster Security (ACS) for governance and compliance.

We are a Disability Confident Employer

Capgemini is proud to be a  Disability Confident Employer (Level 2) under the UK Government’s Disability Confident scheme. As part of our commitment to inclusive recruitment, we will offer an interview to all candidates who:
