Java and Vaadin Fullstack Developer

YOUR ROLE  

As a Senior Java Developer (Vaadin), you will play a key role in the modernization of a healthcare product, focusing on the evolution and enhancement of its Vaadin-based user interface. You will be responsible for designing, developing, and maintaining scalable frontend and backend components, while contributing to the application's migration from Java 11 to Java 21.

Working closely with cross-functional teams, you will help implement new business requirements, modernize existing web interfaces, integrate frontend functionality with REST services, and ensure the application remains maintainable, consistent, and user-friendly. The role also involves contributing to Spring Boot backend components whenever required and supporting the overall modernization strategy of the platform.

YOUR PROFILE

  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or a related field.
  • Minimum 5 years of professional software development experience.
  • At least 3 years of hands-on experience with Vaadin, with a strong focus on frontend and UI development.
  • Strong expertise in Java and solid experience with Spring Boot.
  • Proven experience developing and modernizing user-facing web applications.
  • Experience developing and consuming REST APIs.
  • Good understanding of frontend usability principles, component-based development, and maintainable UI architectures
  • .Experience working across both frontend and backend layers of enterprise applications.
  • Knowledge of Agile/Scrum methodologies and collaborative software development practices.
  • Strong communication skills and ability to work within cross-functional teams.
  • Hybrid-Model: 2 times a week in the Capgemini Offices
  • English is mandatory.

 

NICE TO HAVE

  • Experience with Vaadin 23.
  • Experience with Java 21 and/or Java version migration projects.
  • Knowledge of PostgreSQL and Flyway.
  • Experience with Maven multi-module applications.
  • Previous experience in healthcare solutions or other complex enterprise systems.
  • Familiarity with application modernization and legacy platform evolution projects.
