Your Role
Core Pillars of ETL maintenance and Development
- Pipeline Development: Build and optimize scalable data integration processes using tools like SnapLogic, SSIS, Informatica, or Talent.
- Data Transformation: Clean, deduplicate, and format data so it is reliable and consistent for end-users.
- Data Modeling: Structure and define the storage of large-scale datasets within data warehouses or data lakes.
- Performance & Maintenance: Troubleshoot pipeline failures, monitor data quality, and schedule continuous data updates.
- Cross-functional Collaboration: Work with business analysts, data scientists, and solutions architects to align data workflows with business needs.
- Monitoring & Alerts: Setting up automated logging and error notifications (e.g., using tools like Databricks ETL Tools) to catch pipeline failures before they impact business decisions.
- Incident Management: Investigating failed jobs, identifying corrupted data, and applying hotfixes or triggering automated data-recovery routines.
- Performance Tuning: Diagnosing bottlenecks and refining transformation logic to minimize processing overhead and ensure shorter maintenance windows.
- Source/Destination Updates: Managing schema drift and updating connectors when third-party APIs or source databases change.
- Database Programming: Develop and optimize complex T-SQL queries, stored procedures, functions, and triggers to support business rules and reporting.
- Scripting & Automation: Write and maintain Unix/Linux shell scripts (e.g., Bash, Korn) to automate batch processing, data extraction, and file transfers.
- System Support & Monitoring: Investigate, troubleshoot, and resolve database application issues and server faults. Ensure high availability for critical business applications.
- Performance Tuning: Analyze execution plans, manage indexes, and fine-tune SQL queries and server configurations to improve throughput.
- Data Migration: Build procedures to extract, transform, and load (ETL) large datasets between disparate systems and flat files.
- Collaboration: Work alongside DBAs, developers, and QA teams to support deployment, maintenance, and system upgrades.
On-Premises vs. Cloud Support
- On-Premises: Requires heavy, hands-on IT maintenance (managing hardware, software updates, and server downtime)
