Job Description
Project Delivery & Functional Ownership
- Lead and contribute across all phases of the project lifecycle, from discovery and design to implementation and post‑go‑live support.
- Take strong ownership of functional solution deliverables and ensure alignment between business intent and system implementation.
- Track delivery progress in partnership with technical leads, ensuring milestones and outcomes are achieved.
- Identify functional, process, and delivery risks early and propose practical mitigation options.
Stakeholder Engagement & Requirements Gathering
- Facilitate workshops and working sessions with business users to understand end‑to‑end business processes, pain points, and objectives.
- Analyse requirements and translate them into clear, structured artefacts such as user stories, business rules, process flows, and functional specifications.
- Act as a trusted advisor to stakeholders by explaining solution options, trade‑offs, and Salesforce platform considerations.
- Build strong working relationships with stakeholders to maintain alignment and manage expectations throughout delivery.
Solution Design & Documentation
- Design Salesforce functional solutions that effectively leverage standard platform capabilities while balancing configuration versus customisation.
- Define solution approaches across data model, automation, security, and user experience from a functional perspective.
- Collaborate closely with architects and developers to ensure functional designs are technically sound and scalable.
- Review and refine solution designs, user stories, and acceptance criteria produced by junior consultants and analysts.
- Produce and maintain functional design documentation and ensure traceability to business requirements.
Salesforce Configuration & Functional Oversight
- Perform or oversee Salesforce configuration activities including objects, fields, record types, page layouts, validation rules, flows, and automation tools.
- Provide functional guidance to developers on areas requiring custom development to ensure business intent is preserved.
- Mentor junior team members by reviewing work, providing feedback, and guiding solution thinking.
- Ensure adherence to agreed functional standards, governance guidelines, and design frameworks.
- Support deployment planning and readiness activities in coordination with technical teams.
Testing & Quality Assurance
- Work with the QA team to ensure appropriate test coverage in line with test plans and contractual requirements.
- Ensure quality of deliverables through proper unit testing, validation, and functional verification.
- Provide guidance to the delivery team on testing approach and execution for unit and functional testing.
- Support SIT and UAT activities by validating expected behaviours, triaging issues, and driving timely defect resolution prior to release.
Training & Enablement
- Provide inputs into training materials and user guides from a functional perspective.
- Lead user training sessions and knowledge transfer activities.
Data & Integration Support
- Support data migration and integration activities through functional input, including field mapping clarification, data validation rules, and transformation logic.
- Work with integration teams to ensure end‑to‑end process and data consistency across systems.
Job Requirements
Must have skills and experience
- Minimum 5 years of Salesforce project experience, with demonstrated functional leadership responsibilities.
- Strong experience in business process analysis, functional solution design, and stakeholder facilitation.
- Salesforce certifications such as Administrator, Platform App Builder, or equivalent.
- Deep understanding of Salesforce platform capabilities and when to apply standard features versus customisation.
- Familiarity with diagramming tools and database modelling.
- Ability to mentor junior team members and lead functional workstreams.
- Strong analytical thinking, problem‑solving, and structured documentation skills.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills across technical and non‑technical audiences.
Good to have
- Exposure to integrations, CI/CD, or release management concepts (from a functional standpoint).
- Prior experience or familiarity with public sector or regulated environments.
Success measures
- Timely delivery of well‑defined, high‑quality functional solutions aligned to business objectives.
- Minimal functional rework due to clear requirements and sound solutioning.
- Positive stakeholder feedback on clarity, responsiveness, and quality of solution design.
- Effective mentoring and uplift of junior team members’ functional capabilities.
- Smooth UAT cycles with high acceptance rates and limited functional defects.
Education
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, or a related field, or equivalent practical experience.
