About the role
We are seeking an Integration Business Analyst to act as the functional bridge between business stakeholders, external partners, source/target system owners, the MuleSoft integration team, and the Salesforce functional team.
You will play a key role in translating business process and data exchange requirements into clear integration requirements, defining attribute data mappings and transformation rules, clarifying upstream/downstream impacts, and ensuring technical teams have the information they need to design and build robust MuleSoft APIs.
This role is best suited for individuals who can clarify ambiguity, facilitate cross-team alignment, and drive follow‑ups to ensure integrations are delivered successfully.
Responsibilities
Cross-Functional Coordination & Follow-Through
- Act as the primary liaison between client stakeholders, external partners, MuleSoft technical team, Salesforce functional team, and source/target system owners.
- Participate in all integration‑related meetings, functional walkthroughs, and system-specific discussions to gather end-to-end context.
- Lead conversations with client stakeholders to clarify functional requirements, attribute definitions, data rules, error-handling scenarios, and edge cases.
- Create and track all action items and proactively follow up with relevant stakeholders to ensure timely closure to unblock development.
- Work closely with the Salesforce functional team to understand business processes involving integration, data usage, and impacts on interfaces.
- Work with source/target system teams to understand their data structures, constraints, dependencies, and interface capabilities.
Functional Support for Development & Testing
- Drive the creation of integration attribute mapping documents, including data definitions, transformation rules, and validation logics in consultation with the Salesforce functional team counterpart.
- Analyse data requirements, identify mismatches between systems, and propose options to resolve mapping gaps.
- Support MuleSoft developers by explaining business logic, clarifying transformation rules, and validating functional edge cases.
- Assist QA team in validating integration behaviour by reviewing test cases and expected results.
- Participate in SIT/UAT discussions for integrations, assisting with defect clarifications and traceability.
Requirements
Must have skills and experience
- Experience in large scale integration projects
- Experience in integration business analysis, system integration design and data mapping activities
- Strong ability to analyse data requirements, field definitions, and transformation logic across systems.
- Pro-active approach to engaging stakeholders, comfortable leading discussions with functional, business, and technical stakeholders.
- Ability to translate business requirements into structured functional specifications.
- Strong analytical and problem‑solving skills with attention to detail.
- Excellent communication, coordination, and follow‑up skills.
Good to have
- Familiarity with API concepts, REST interfaces, JSON/XML, and file-based data interchange formats.
- Understanding of integration patterns, data transformation, and error-handling concepts.
- MuleSoft certifications (e.g. Integration Foundations).
- Salesforce certifications (e.g. Administrator, App Builder).
- Experience with public sector projects or projects with structured environments.
Ways of working
- Work collaboratively within an agile, sprint-based build delivery environment.
- Maintain close alignment with both MuleSoft and Salesforce teams to ensure no functional ambiguities block development.
- Proactively highlight cross-system dependencies and coordinate with respective owners to ensure smooth integration delivery.
Success measures
- Smooth collaboration between integration teams and functional teams, supported by proactive communication and alignment.
- Strong stakeholder feedback on clarity, responsiveness, and follow-through.
- High-quality, complete, and accurate mapping/functional specifications accepted by both MuleSoft and Salesforce teams.
- Reduced number of functional defects during SIT/UAT due to clear upstream requirements.
Education
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, or a related field, or equivalent practical experience.
