About Capgemini
Capgemini is an AI-powered global business and technology transformation partner, delivering tangible business value. We imagine the future of organizations and make it real with AI, technology and people. With our strong heritage of nearly 60 years, we are a responsible and diverse group of over 420,000 team members in more than 50 countries. We deliver end-to-end services and solutions with our deep industry expertise and strong partner ecosystem, leveraging our capabilities across strategy, technology, design, engineering and business operations. The Group reported 2025 global revenues of €22.5 billion.
Responsibilities
- Develop and maintain backend services — APIs, data pipelines, integrations — alongside the Senior Backend Engineer and Tech Lead
- Build and iterate on frontend interfaces using our design system, ensuring quality and performance
- Step in as acting Tech Lead during planned absences — facilitating team rituals, unblocking work, and maintaining engineering momentum
- Act as 2IC (second-in-command) to the Tech Lead: provide technical mentorship to the Junior Engineer, conduct code reviews, and uphold engineering standards
- Operate in DevOps mode — own your features from development through deployment, monitoring, and maintenance
- Participate in technical planning and sprint execution, contributing to estimates and architectural discussions
- Collaborate closely with the PM and designer to ship user-facing features that meet processing velocity and UX targets
- Flag technical risks proactively and help the team make pragmatic trade-offs
Requirements
- 3–6 years of software engineering experience with meaningful exposure to both frontend and backend development
- Solid backend skills: REST APIs, server-side logic, database design, and integration work
- Competent frontend skills: component-based UI development (e.g. React or equivalent), responsive design, and basic state management
- Comfortable owning a feature end-to-end — from backend data model to polished frontend interaction
- DevOps-literate: familiar with CI/CD workflows, cloud deployments, and basic observability practices
- Strong communication skills — Experience working with stakeholders and cross-functional teams; able to communicate with both technical and non-technical stakeholders
- Prior experience stepping into a lead or senior role, even informally (e.g. mentoring, running ceremonies, owning a workstream)
- Collaborative and low-ego — you care about the team succeeding, not just your own ticket closing
Nice to have
- Experience working with AI: Experience using AI tools to accelerate development. You maintain absolute accountability for the output; “vibe-coding” without manual verification is not acceptable.
- Experience in regulatory, government, or compliance-heavy environments
- Familiarity with secure cloud architectures and cross-environment integration patterns
- Exposure to product thinking — you understand why something is being built, not just how
- Prior experience as a tech lead or in a 2IC capacity on a small team
