Performance Test Engineer with NeoLoad | 4 to 6 years | Pune

Job Description

ROLE OVERVIEW
The Performance Test Engineer is responsible for planning, designing, executing, and reporting non-functional performance tests for applications in the financial services and insurance domain. The role focuses on ensuring scalability, stability, and response time compliance for critical insurance journeys while working closely with business, development, infrastructure, and release teams. The engineer is expected to be hands on with performance test scripting and execution using JMeter and NeoLoad and to drive performance engineering outcomes through data driven analysis and recommendations.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
Own performance testing delivery for assigned applications and releases including test strategy, planning, execution, and sign off readiness.
Understand business critical insurance workflows such as quote to bind, policy issuance, endorsements, billing, claims intake, adjudication, and customer servicing and translate them into realistic workload models.
Define non-functional requirements and service level targets in collaboration with stakeholders and convert them into measurable test objectives.
Create and maintain performance test assets including workload models, test data needs, test scripts, scenarios, and run books using JMeter and NeoLoad.
Design test scenarios for load, stress, spike, endurance, and volume testing aligned to expected production usage patterns.
Set up and validate performance test environments and coordinate prerequisites across application and infrastructure teams including access, data, and monitoring readiness.
Execute tests, monitor end to end system behavior, and capture performance metrics including response times, throughput, error rates, resource utilization, and saturation indicators.
Perform result analysis to identify bottlenecks across application, database, middleware, and infrastructure layers and drive root cause discussions with relevant teams.
Provide actionable recommendations for tuning and remediation and validate fixes through re tests and comparative benchmark runs.
Produce clear performance reports and dashboards highlighting observations, risks, trends, and release recommendations for stakeholders.
Support continuous performance engineering by establishing baselines, capacity indicators, and early warning checks across release cycles.
Collaborate with DevOps teams to integrate performance tests into CI CD pipelines where applicable and support automation of repeatable test runs.
Ensure adherence to quality, security, and compliance expectations typically required in regulated insurance environments including data privacy and audit readiness.

REQUIRED SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE
TECHNICAL SKILLS
Strong hands on performance testing skills with JMeter including test plan design, parameterization, correlation, assertions, distributed execution, and report generation.
Strong hands on performance testing skills with NeoLoad including script creation, scenario design, monitoring configuration, and analysis features.
Good understanding of performance testing concepts including workload modeling, think time, ramp up, pacing, concurrency, and capacity thresholds.
Experience testing web and API based applications and common protocols including HTTP and HTTPS and REST services.
Working knowledge of monitoring and diagnostics and the ability to interpret application and infrastructure metrics to support bottleneck isolation.
Good understanding of SDLC and STLC and Agile delivery practices.
Ability to manage defects and performance findings using standard tracking tools and to maintain clear documentation.
