Job Profile

As a Senior Cyber Security Consultant, you are responsible for shaping and strengthening the organisation’s overall security posture through strategic leadership, technical expertise, and proactive risk management. In this role, you lead the security architecture function, identifying vulnerabilities, analysing risks, and implementing security controls that safeguard critical systems, applications, and data. You serve as a trusted advisor to both technical and non‑technical stakeholders, guiding decision‑making and ensuring security principles are embedded across all initiatives.

 

You will mentor and support the cybersecurity team, fostering a culture of continuous learning, innovation, and operational excellence. With a strong focus on automation and efficiency, you streamline processes, reduce manual workloads, and drive improvements in deployment, configuration, and change management practices. Your collaboration with cross‑functional teams is vital to resolving major incidents, developing corrective actions, and improving the organisation’s resilience against emerging threats.

 

In this role, you also ensure adherence to ITIL processes, compliance obligations, and internal governance requirements. You take ownership of documenting work to required standards, maintaining transparency, accuracy, and audit readiness. This position offers flexible working arrangements, including two days per week working from home, supporting balance while enabling high performance.

Role and Responsibilities

  • Provide architectural direction and operational leadership across the cybersecurity function.
  • Participate in planning sessions to define security standards, architecture frameworks, innovation strategies, and project roadmaps.
  • Identify security vulnerabilities and deliver clear, actionable remediation recommendations.
  • Conduct proactive risk assessments and document findings, gaps, and improvement opportunities.
  • Develop, enforce, and maintain security standards, best practices, and compliance with regulatory and internal policies.
  • Lead, mentor, and support the cybersecurity team, encouraging continuous improvement and professional growth.
  • Demonstrate a strong appetite for learning and share insights on emerging cybersecurity trends and technologies.
  • Drive automation initiatives to reduce manual effort and improve the efficiency of deployments and configuration updates.
  • Oversee execution of application and platform changes, releases, and service requests across supported environments.
  • Perform root cause analysis to support service restoration and long‑term improvement.
  • Collaborate with cross‑functional teams to develop corrective actions or temporary workarounds for major incidents.
  • Adhere to ITIL guidelines for Incident, Problem, and Change Management.
  • Ensure all work is thoroughly documented in accordance with required standards, methods, and procedures.

Your Profile

Your Capabilities and Experience:

You will need to be a passionate, motivated and client focused Senior Cyber Consultant.

  • Previous experience working in a Managed Service Provider (MSP) or large enterprise company.
  • In depth expertise in Microsoft Defender for Endpoint, Microsoft Sentinel and Tenable.
  • Experience in Defender: Identity, Office 365, Cloud Apps, Key Vault, DNS, Secure Score
  • Microsoft Cybersecurity Reference Architectures (MCRA).
  • Experience implementing information security practices in an operational environment – Essential 8.
  • Demonstrated experience with scripting tools such as PowerShell, Microsoft Graph (Graph API), KQL, threat hunting queries.
  • Strong written and verbal communications skills and the ability to clearly articulate complex concepts to a broad and diverse audience
  • Strong problem-solving skills and ability to work independently.
  • Adaptability to changing environments and workloads.
  • Passion for staying updated on latest cybersecurity innovations and sharing knowledge with the team.
  • Have existing Microsoft Security certifications.
