Let’s talk about the role and responsibilities
Role purpose
The Business Analyst supports the delivery of mining and heavy‑industry projects by eliciting, analysing, and documenting business and functional requirements for defined projects or workstreams.
Operating at SFIA Level 4, the role works under general direction, applying established analysis techniques, engaging with stakeholders, and supporting senior BAs, Project Managers, or Engagement Managers to ensure solutions meet agreed business needs.
Key responsibilities
1. Requirements elicitation & analysis
Elicit, analyse, and document business, functional, and non‑functional requirements for assigned projects or workstreams.
Apply established business analysis techniques (e.g. workshops, interviews, process mapping) to understand current and future‑state needs.
Collaborate with business stakeholders to clarify requirements and acceptance criteria.
2. Documentation & artefacts
Produce clear and structured analysis artefacts, including requirements specifications, user stories, process flows, data definitions, and traceability matrices.
Maintain accurate and up‑to‑date documentation aligned with Capgemini standards and project governance requirements.
Support requirements validation, walkthroughs, and sign‑off activities.
3. Stakeholder collaboration
Work closely with business stakeholders, delivery teams, and vendors to support shared understanding of requirements and solution scope.
Act as an effective liaison between business and technical teams, supporting translation of business needs into delivery‑ready inputs.
Escalate ambiguities, risks, or conflicts in requirements to senior BA or project leadership.
4. Delivery support
Support solution design, development, and testing activities by clarifying requirements and responding to delivery queries.
Assist with impact assessments for change requests and evolving business needs.
Support test case development and user acceptance testing by ensuring requirements are testable and traceable.
5. Governance & quality
Apply established governance, change control, and quality assurance processes for requirements management.
Ensure requirements are managed through appropriate lifecycle states (draft, approved, baselined, changed).
Contribute to lessons learned and continuous improvement of analysis practices.
6. Sales & pre‑sales support (as required)
Support delivery input into bids or proposals by contributing analysis assumptions, scope inputs, or high‑level requirements when requested.
Provide accurate information to support estimation and delivery planning.
