Let's Talk About the Role & Responsibilities

Role purpose
The Project Manager is responsible for managing defined projects or workstreams within mining and heavy‑industry engagements, delivering agreed outcomes under direction and within established governance, commercial, and delivery frameworks.

Operating at SFIA Level 4, the role plans and coordinates delivery activities, manages risks and issues, and supports senior project or engagement leadership to ensure successful outcomes in operationally sensitive environments.

Key responsibilities
1. Project execution & coordination
Manage day‑to‑day delivery of assigned projects or workstreams within agreed scope, schedule, budget, and quality constraints.
Develop and maintain detailed project plans, schedules, and task dependencies under the guidance of a Senior Project Manager or Engagement Manager.
Coordinate delivery activities across Capgemini, client, and vendor teams to meet agreed milestones.
2. Governance, risk & control support
Apply established Capgemini project management methods, templates, and reporting standards.
Identify, track, and manage project risks, issues, actions, and dependencies, escalating when thresholds are exceeded.
Maintain accurate project documentation, status reports, and delivery artefacts to support governance and assurance processes.
3. Financial & commercial support
Track project costs and effort against the agreed budget and delivery baseline.
Support forecasting, timesheet compliance, and invoicing inputs through accurate reporting of progress and planned activities.
Escalate budget variances, scope changes, or commercial risks to senior project or engagement leadership.
4. Stakeholder communication
Support communication with client stakeholders through regular status updates, meeting coordination, and action tracking.
Maintain positive working relationships with client, vendor, and internal team members to support smooth delivery.
Escalate delivery concerns, risks, or dependencies in a timely manner.
5. Team collaboration & delivery discipline
Work collaboratively within multi‑disciplinary teams, supporting delivery outcomes in complex and safety‑critical environments.
Ensure delivery activities adhere to health, safety, quality, and compliance requirements relevant to mining and heavy‑industry contexts.
Contribute to continuous improvement by capturing lessons learned and identifying opportunities to improve delivery practices.
6. Sales & change support (as required)
Support delivery input into bids, estimates, schedules, and change requests when requested by senior leadership.
Provide accurate delivery information to support account and engagement planning.

Defined projects or workstreams within larger mining or resources programs
Brownfield upgrades, operational improvements, or technology deployments
Multi‑party delivery environments with operational and safety constraints
Moderate complexity with clearly defined objectives and governance
