Senior Python Engineer

Role Overview

Our client specialises in building and operating the online infrastructure that powers multiplayer experiences for some of the world’s most popular video games. They design and manage backend services that handle everything from player authentication and matchmaking to leaderboards and in-game transactions. Their technology ensures that millions of players can connect, compete, and interact seamlessly across platforms. By focusing on scalability, reliability, and performance, they enable game studios to deliver rich, engaging online features without compromising quality or stability.

We are looking for a Python Engineer to join a highly technical team focused on building and evolving tooling, automation, and services around a platform used by engineering teams worldwide. This role is ideal for someone who enjoys solving real-world engineering challenges through software development, automation, and cloud-native technologies. You will have the opportunity to influence how the platform is operated and extended while working with modern technologies such as Python, Kubernetes, and CI/CD tooling.

Key Responsibilities:

• Develop and maintain Python applications, tools, and automation solutions.
• Build and enhance testing frameworks and automated test suites.
• Create and maintain internal tooling to support platform operations and developer productivity.
• Work within a Kubernetes-based environment to support deployment and operational workflows.
• Collaborate with platform and engineering teams to improve reliability, efficiency, and automation across the development lifecycle.

Required Skills & Experience:

• Strong Python development experience.
• Experience working with Kubernetes environments.
• Solid understanding of software engineering best practices, testing, and automation.
• Ability to work independently and collaborate effectively within distributed teams.

Nice to Have:

• Experience with GitHub Actions and CI/CD pipelines.
• Experience building developer tooling and automation frameworks.
• Exposure to cloud-native technologies and platform engineering practices.

Location & Time Zone:

• Candidates should be able to work within or close to GMT time zones.
• Regular overlap with Dublin working hours is required, with some overlap with Vancouver mornings being desirable.
• Meeting times typically fall between 17:00 and 18:00 Irish time, occasionally extending to 18:30 Irish time, so candidates should be comfortable working within this schedule when needed.
