Service Now Developer - App Engine

Your Role

•            Design & Develop Custom Applications: Use ServiceNow App Engine Studio to plan and build scoped applications from scratch, including defining data tables, user interfaces, and experiences. Leverage Flow Designer to create automated workflows and business logic with minimal coding.

•            Workflow and Process Automation: Implement business processes as digital workflows. Create and maintain flows, subflows, and “Actions” in Flow Designer; utilize IntegrationHub for integrations and specific spokes as needed (e.g., connecting to third-party APIs without code). Ensure that repetitive tasks are automated and efficient.

•            Platform Configuration: Configure ServiceNow platform features to support the applications. This includes form design, UI policies, client scripts (when necessary), business rules, and access controls (ACLs) to enforce security.

•            Integration Development: Integrate ServiceNow apps with other systems and data sources. Use REST/SOAP APIs or IntegrationHub to pull or push data as required. For example, create integrations so that the App Engine Studio apps can interact with core ITSM modules or external services (like sending data to an external database or triggering workflows from incoming emails).

•            Documentation & Support: Document application designs, configurations, and workflows for future reference and knowledge transfer. Create user guide documentation for any custom self-service app if needed. Provide technical support during and after deployment to address any issues with the applications.

•            Collaboration & Requirements Gathering: Work closely with business stakeholders, process owners, and other developers to understand requirements and translate them into technical designs. Engage in workshops or sprint planning sessions to gather feedback and refine the application.

Your Skills

•            Experience: 3+ years of hands-on experience in ServiceNow development and administration. This should include building or customizing applications on the Now Platform; direct experience with App Engine Studio (or its components like Studio and Guided App Creator) is highly desired.

•            Low-Code Development Skills: Demonstrated ability to create applications using low-code tools. Proficiency with Flow Designer for workflow automation and App Engine Studio for app development is required. Experience creating UI pages or experiences (via ServiceNow’s UI Builder or classic Service Portal) without extensive coding is a plus.

•            ServiceNow Platform Knowledge: Strong understanding of core ServiceNow platform capabilities – including database schema (tables, fields), form and list configuration, business rules, client scripts, ACLs, notifications, and reporting.

•            Scripting and Integration: Experience with ServiceNow APIs (REST and SOAP) and integration techniques.

•            ServiceNow Modules: Exposure to standard ServiceNow modules (ITSM processes like Incident, Change, etc., or others such as GRC) and how they operate. You should understand how custom apps might need to interact with these modules (for example, a custom app creating an Incident or querying CMDB data).
