(AMI) Enterprise Architect
We are seeking an experienced Enterprise Architect specializing in Advanced Metering Infrastructure (AMI) to lead our utilities transformation journey. This individual will drive the architecture, strategy, and roadmap for our AMI ecosystem—enabling secure, scalable, and intelligent metering and data management platforms. As a senior technology leader, you will work cross-functionally to align business goals with technical solutions, shaping the future of our smart grid and customer experience.
Key Responsibilities
- Enterprise Architecture Leadership: Define and own the end-to-end enterprise architecture for AMI, including smart meters, head-end systems, MDMS, data integration, and analytics platforms.
- Strategic Planning: Develop AMI technology roadmaps aligned with regulatory requirements, utility goals, and customer experience priorities.
- Stakeholder Engagement: Collaborate with business, IT, operations, cybersecurity, and vendor teams to define architectural standards and design patterns.
- Solution Design: Provide architectural governance and guidance on system integration, data flow, security, and interoperability across the AMI ecosystem.
- Vendor & Technology Evaluation: Assess and recommend AMI vendors, platforms, and solutions—including communications networks (RF Mesh, LTE, PLC), edge computing, and cloud integrations.
- Innovation Enablement: Support digital grid initiatives, such as demand-side management, outage management, DER integration, and time-of-use billing.
- Compliance & Risk Management: Ensure adherence to regulatory standards (e.g., NERC CIP, ISO, IEC), data privacy laws, and security best practices.
Required Skills
- 10+ years in enterprise or solution architecture with a focus on utilities or smart grid systems.
- Deep experience with AMI platforms (e.g., Itron, Landis+Gyr, Sensus, Trilliant) and Meter Data Management Systems (e.g., Oracle Utilities, Siemens EnergyIP, Honeywell).
- Proven expertise in integrating AMI with utility systems such as OMS, CIS, SCADA, DMS, and GIS.
- Solid understanding of data governance, cybersecurity, and network infrastructure in the context of utility operations.
- Strong communication and leadership skills to influence executive stakeholders and technology teams.
- Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Computer Science, or related discipline (Master’s preferred).
- Certifications such as TOGAF, Zachman, or relevant utility frameworks are an asset.
Preferred Experience:
- Experience in AMI deployments for electric, gas, or water utilities in North America.
- Exposure to cloud platforms (Azure, AWS) and data platforms (Snowflake, Databricks) for AMI analytics.
- Familiarity with regulatory frameworks such as OEB, FERC, or NERC CIP.
- Passion for sustainability, innovation, and digital grid transformation.
The base compensation range for this role in the posted location is: CAD 83,000 - CAD 175,000
Capgemini provides compensation range information in accordance with applicable national, state, provincial, and local pay transparency laws. The base compensation range listed for this position reflects the minimum and maximum target compensation Capgemini, in good faith, believes it may pay for the role at the time of this posting. This range may be subject to change as permitted by law.
The actual compensation offered to any candidate may fall outside of the posted range and will be determined based on multiple factors legally permitted in the applicable jurisdiction.
These may include, but are not limited to: Geographic location, Education and qualifications, Certifications and licenses, Relevant experience and skills, Seniority and performance, Market and business consideration, Internal pay equity.
It is not typical for candidates to be hired at or near the top of the posted compensation range.
In addition to base salary, this role may be eligible for additional compensation such as variable incentives, bonuses, or commissions, depending on the position and applicable laws.
