Technical Situation Manager

Role Summary

The Enterprise Data Center Engineer is a key contributor to the implementation and maintenance of the organization's data center network infrastructure. This role demands advanced expertise in data center technologies, network protocols, and security practices to ensure high availability, scalability, and performance of mission-critical systems. The engineer will work closely with cross-functional teams to support enterprise initiatives and maintain robust, secure, and efficient data center operations.

 

Key Responsibilities
• Design, deploy, and manage data center network infrastructure using Cisco Nexus platforms (N7K, N9K, N5K, N2K/FEX).
• Configure and maintain F5 load balancers, including virtual servers, pools, iRules, and SSL certificate management.
• Implement and support SSL offloading and related security practices.
• Perform packet captures and traffic analysis using tools like tcpdump and Wireshark.
• Manage and troubleshoot advanced data center networking technologies including vPC, FabricPath, VxLAN, and LACP port-channels.
• Maintain data center model topologies (CLOS, Three-tier, Collapsed Core).
• Diagnose and resolve LAN/DCB protocol issues (STP, ARP, DHCP, HSRP, VRRP).
• Support virtualized and automated network environments (Cloud, SD-Access, Cisco ACI).
• Enforce LAN security measures including 802.1X access control, DDoS mitigation, and DHCP spoofing prevention.
• Configure and troubleshoot routing protocols such as OSPF, BGP, and ISIS.
• Provide operational support and configuration for Juniper switch platforms (EX, QFX series) as needed.
• Document network designs, configurations, and procedures for operational transparency and compliance.

 

Required Skill Set
• Strong understanding of enterprise data center networking principles.
• Proficiency in Cisco Nexus platforms and F5 load balancer technologies.
• Solid grasp of SSL offloading, Linux fundamentals, and network traffic analysis.
• Expertise in Layer 2/3 protocols and data center fabric technologies.
• Familiarity with network automation and virtualization platforms.
• Ability to troubleshoot complex network issues in high-pressure environments.
• Excellent communication and documentation skills.

Required Qualifications
• Education: Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or related field (or equivalent experience).
• Certifications:
o CCNP Data Center or higher
o F5-CTS - F5 Certified Technology Specialist
• Experience: 5+ years of experience in enterprise data center engineering or network operations.

 

Preferred Experience
• Hands-on experience with Cisco Nexus and Juniper switching platforms.
• Proven track record in managing large-scale data center environments.
• Experience with network automation and orchestration tools.
• Exposure to hybrid cloud environments and SDN technologies.
