Workday Technical Consultant - Integrations and Extend

About the job you’re considering

We are looking for an experienced Workday Technical Consultant to join our Workday Practice, with a specific focus on Workday Integrations, Workday Extend, Application Managed Services (AMS), optimisation and continuous improvement for live Workday environments. This is an office-based role in Manchester for someone who combines strong Workday technical knowledge, hands-on delivery experience, service discipline and consulting skills.
You will support global clients across Workday technical services, helping them keep integrations, Extend applications and related platform components stable, supportable and continuously improving. You will collaborate with client stakeholders, service teams, functional consultants, integration specialists, security and reporting colleagues and delivery leads to resolve issues, deliver enhancements and identify opportunities to improve automation, integration resilience and user experience.

Your Role

As a Workday Technical Consultant focused on Workday Integrations and Workday Extend, you will support the delivery of high-quality Workday managed services, enhancements and optimisation initiatives across live Workday environments. You will analyse technical requirements, design and support integrations, develop and maintain Extend applications, troubleshoot production issues, support service requests and contribute to continuous improvement activity.
You will be expected to bring a modern consulting mindset: practical, service-focused, outcome-led and comfortable helping clients understand how to use Workday technology, data, automation and emerging AI-enabled functionality responsibly and effectively. You will also support knowledge transfer, documentation and reusable technical assets that help build a scalable AMS capability from the Manchester office.

AMS service delivery and technical support

  • Support the delivery of Workday AMS services by managing technical incidents for Workday Integrations and Workday Extend applications as well as service requests, change requests and enhancement activity through ServiceNow or other ITIL-aligned service management platforms.
  • Analyse integration, Extend, reporting and security-related issues, identify root causes, propose practical resolutions and work with client and internal teams to deliver timely, high-quality outcomes.
  • Support service operations across defined hours of service, including shift-based coverage between 07:00 and 19:00 and shared on-call support for P1 incidents as required.

Integration and Extend delivery

  • Design, build, test, validate, deploy and document Workday integrations using appropriate Workday tools and patterns, including Studio, EIB, Core Connectors, Cloud Connect and APIs.
  • Develop, support and enhance Workday Extend applications, ensuring solutions are secure, maintainable, user-focused and aligned to agreed design principles.
  • Support integration monitoring, error handling, data validation, defect resolution and production support activity across Workday and connected systems.
  • Produce and maintain high-quality technical deliverables, including integration design documents, mapping specifications, test evidence, deployment notes, run books and support playbooks.

Optimisation and continuous improvement

  • Review existing integrations, Extend applications and technical processes to identify opportunities for simplification, standardisation, automation and improved resilience.
  • Support enhancement and optimisation initiatives from requirement analysis through design, build, testing, deployment and transition into support.
  • Support regression testing, release assessment and bi-annual Workday release activity, helping clients understand technical impacts and adopt relevant new capabilities.
  • Promote reusable patterns, technical standards and automation where they improve quality, speed and consistency across the AMS service.

Your skills and experience

  • Experience supporting and/or delivering Workday Integrations and Workday Extend solutions, ideally including implementation, post go-live support, optimisation or AMS service delivery experience.
  • Workday Integration certification and/or Workday Extend certification.
  • Hands-on experience with Workday integration tools and patterns such as Workday Studio, EIB, Core Connectors, Cloud Connect, REST APIs, SOAP APIs, XML, XSLT, JSON or related integration technologies.
  • Experience developing, supporting or enhancing Workday Extend applications, including understanding of app design, security, data access and user experience considerations.
  • Good understanding of Workday technical architecture, integration dependencies and how technical solutions support end-to-end HR processes.
  • Experience analysing technical requirements, documenting solutions, supporting testing and translating business needs into practical Workday technical outcomes.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to diagnose complex technical issues, manage priorities and communicate recommendations clearly.
  • Experience working with stakeholders, participating in technical workshops and supporting solution design decisions in a client-facing environment.
  • Excellent communication skills in English, with a proactive, inclusive and knowledge-sharing mindset.
  • Availability to work from the Capgemini Manchester office as part of an office-based AMS team.

Desirable experience

  • Experience using ServiceNow or another ITIL-aligned service management platform to manage incidents, service requests, changes, problems or enhancement backlogs.
  • Experience with post-production optimisation, service transition, knowledge acquisition or continuous improvement roadmaps.
  • Awareness of Workday Reporting, calculated fields, Security, Prism Analytics, Orchestrate, Peakon, Journeys or broader enterprise architecture considerations.
  • ITIL, cloud integration, software engineering or equivalent practical experience in managed services, technical delivery or enterprise application support.
