About the job you’re considering
We are looking for an experienced Workday Lead to join our Workday Practice and strengthen our Application Managed Services capability. This is an office-based role in Manchester for someone who can combine deep Workday functional knowledge, service delivery discipline and people leadership to deliver a critical service for our clients.
You will lead a global team supporting and enhancing live Workday environments, working closely with client stakeholders, service managers, functional specialists, technical teams, integration teams and delivery leaders. You will help clients keep their Workday platforms stable, compliant and continuously improving, while supporting the growth of a scalable, high-quality AMS capability.
Your Role
As a Workday Lead (AMS Specialist), you will act as a trusted advisor and service lead for clients using Workday as a business-critical HR platform. You will take ownership of complex functional and service topics, guide consultants across geographies, oversee incident, request and enhancement activity, and ensure that work is delivered to agreed quality, service and client expectations.
You will be expected to bring a modern AMS mindset: proactive, service-focused, outcome-led and comfortable helping clients improve stability, adoption, data quality, automation, reporting and responsible use of emerging Workday capabilities. You will also help shape the ways of working, assets and standards that support a mature global Workday AMS service.
Your skills and experience
- Experience as a Workday professional working across implementation, post go-live support, optimisation or AMS services, with the confidence to take ownership of complex functional and service topics.
- Strong hands-on Workday configuration experience, ideally across Workday HCM and one or more areas such as Learning, Talent, Performance, Absence, Time Tracking, Recruiting, Compensation, Payroll, Security or Reporting.
- Good understanding of end-to-end HR processes and how they are enabled, supported and improved through Workday.
- Ability to lead and coordinate global teams, review work, mentor colleagues and create clarity across distributed delivery models.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to diagnose complex issues, manage priorities and communicate recommendations clearly.
- Excellent communication skills in English, with the confidence to engage client stakeholders, internal teams and service leadership.
- A proactive, inclusive and knowledge-sharing mindset, with a willingness to help build a high-quality AMS capability from the Manchester office.
Desirable experience
- Current Workday Pro certification in HCM or another relevant functional area such as Learning, Talent, Performance, Absence, Time Tracking, Recruiting, Compensation, Payroll, Security or Reporting.
- Experience working within service management, production support, enhancement delivery, incident management, defect resolution or continuous improvement environments.
- Experience leading AMS or post-production Workday services, including service transition, knowledge transfer, SLA/KPI reporting, release management or backlog prioritisation.
- Awareness of Workday integrations, Extend, Prism Analytics, reporting, security models or broader enterprise architecture considerations.
- Experience supporting clients through Workday bi-annual releases, regression testing, adoption planning and continuous improvement roadmaps.
- Understanding of responsible AI adoption in HR technology, including data readiness, governance, explainability, adoption and change considerations.
- Experience supporting pre-sales, AMS solution shaping, transition planning, service design, proposals or client demonstrations.
- ITIL, service management, HR qualification or equivalent practical experience in managed services or HR transformation.
