Principle Engineer - Reactor & Turbine Island

Your Role

  • Lead the structural engineering design and substantiation of reinforced concrete, steel, and civil infrastructure for the GBE-N programme.
  • Provide technical leadership, guidance, and oversight to structural engineers and multidisciplinary project teams.
  • Coordinate structural design activities with civil, geotechnical, mechanical, electrical, process, construction, and safety disciplines.
  • Ensure designs comply with applicable codes, standards, regulatory requirements, and project governance processes.
  • Lead structural assessments for normal, construction, environmental, and extreme loading conditions, including seismic events.
  • Author, review, and approve technical reports, design substantiations, and documentation supporting regulatory submissions and design assurance activities.
  • Support engagement with clients, regulators, and independent reviewers, resolving technical queries and challenges.
  • Promote safe, sustainable, and constructible design solutions in accordance with CDM 2015 requirements. 

Your Profile

  • Degree-qualified Civil or Structural Engineer with Chartered Engineer status (CEng) or equivalent experience.
  • Extensive experience leading structural engineering projects within major infrastructure, energy, nuclear, or other highly regulated environments.
  • Strong expertise in the analysis and design of reinforced concrete, steel, and civil engineering structures, including complex loading conditions.
  • Solid understanding of design substantiation, safety justification, and engineering assurance processes in safety-critical industries.
  • Proven technical leader with experience managing multidisciplinary teams, engaging stakeholders, overseeing interfaces, and mentoring engineers.

Knowledge or experience using American codes and standards is desirable but not obligatory. Experience working within the Nuclear Industry and particularly on nuclear new build projects is advantageous. We also welcome applications
