Junior Onsite Network Engineer

We have an exciting opportunity to join Capgemini as a Network Engineer, supporting the day-to-day management, maintenance and operational stability of a dedicated proxy server estate. The role will provide hands-on support across proxy infrastructure, server maintenance, incident management, change implementation, patch management, web access administration, troubleshooting, operational support and stakeholder coordination.

 

 

Hybrid working: The places that you work from day to day will vary according to your role, your needs, and those of the business; it will be a blend of Company offices, client sites, and your home; noting that you will be unable to work at home 100% of the time.

Your role

As an integral part of the operational support team, you’ll support the day-to-day management and maintenance of proxy servers, helping ensure a stable, secure and well-managed service. As part of the team, you’ll be empowered to:

 

  • Support the configuration, administration and operational maintenance of the proxy server estate.
  • Manage and resolve approximately incidents, undertaking effective troubleshooting and fault resolution.
  • Implement configuration changes, standard changes and operational service requests in line with agreed change processes.
  • Complete monthly patching activity, ensuring operational readiness and alignment with maintenance schedules.
  • Process web access requests and coordinate with stakeholders to ensure requests are progressed accurately and efficiently.

Your skills and experience

  • Experience supporting enterprise web proxy server infrastructure within a network environment, including day-to-day administration, operational maintenance and service stability.
  • Hands-on experience supporting Clearswift Web Gateways, including configuration, administration, troubleshooting and operational support.
  • Strong Red Hat Linux skills, with the ability to support server maintenance, monthly patching, operational readiness checks and infrastructure troubleshooting.
  • Proven ability to manage and resolve network and infrastructure incidents, carrying out effective fault diagnosis, troubleshooting and service restoration.
  • Experience implementing configuration changes, standard changes and operational service requests through controlled change processes.
  • Knowledge of web access administration, including processing access requests, applying policy changes and coordinating with stakeholders to progress requests accurately.
