TECHNICAL BUSINESS ANALYST

Job Title: Technical Business Analyst

Location: London/Northampton

 

Role Overview

 

As a Technical Business Analyst, you will play a vital role in supporting the Scheme to navigate change and achieve its strategic objectives. You will be a key contributor within an agile product team, helping to deliver business improvements and high‑quality digital products.

 

Working closely with the Product Manager, Business Change Manager, and Engineering teams, you will translate business needs into clear, actionable requirements and ensure that solutions are aligned to business outcomes, security, and data standards.

 

Hybrid working:

The places that you work from day to day will vary according to your role, your needs, and those of the business; it will be a blend of Company offices, client sites, and your home; noting that you will be unable to work at home 100% of the time.

 

Key Responsibilities

 

Requirements Management

  • Develop a strong understanding of business objectives and problem statements for each initiative before beginning requirements gathering.
  • Support the Product Manager in reframing problems where clarification or refinement is required.
  • Facilitate structured workshops, interviews, and discovery sessions to identify and analyse business needs.
  • Translate analysis into high‑quality user stories with clear, testable acceptance criteria, fully covering:
    • Happy paths
    • Unhappy paths
    • Exceptions
    • Edge cases
  • Apply FSCS standard frameworks when documenting requirements.
  • Ensure requirements are validated, understood, and formally signed off by:
    • Subject Matter Experts (SMEs)
    • Technical Design Authority (TDA)
    • Other key stakeholders
  • Embed a security‑by‑design and data‑by‑design approach, enabling early impact assessment and engagement with specialist teams.

 

Agile Delivery Support

  • Work closely with the Product Manager and Engineering Manager to ensure:
    • Requirements are well‑defined and ready for development
    • Backlog items are appropriately prioritised
    • Work aligns to agreed business outcomes
  • Contribute to product backlog management and prioritisation by providing high‑quality analysis to support informed decision‑making.
  • Support refinement, sprint planning, and other agile ceremonies, ensuring changes are development‑ready.
  • Assist with handover to testers and operational SMEs, including support during User Acceptance Testing (UAT).
