Solution Manager

About the job you’re considering

As a Solution Manager, you will be responsible for designing and articulating comprehensive solutions that deliver business outcomes and value to our clients. Solutions that exceed client expectations and needs while optimising for cost-effectiveness and competitiveness. You will leverage your expertise in storytelling, presentation, and business communication to create compelling proposals. Your role will involve leading cross-functional teams, managing stakeholders, and ensuring the deliverability of solutions from conception to implementation.


Hybrid working: The places that you work from day to day will vary according to your role, your needs, and those of the business; it will be a blend of Company offices, client sites, and your home; noting that you will be unable to work at home 100% of the time.

Your role

  • Solution Incubation: You will work to collaboratively shape and incubate new opportunities with clients as well as respond to client requests through RFIs, RFPs and similar procurement frameworks.
  • Client-Centric Vision: Clearly articulate a client-centric vision using storytelling and advanced presentation skills.
  • Business Communication: Demonstrate concise and business-focused written communication and general writing skills.
  • Competitive Analysis: Understand competitive pressures on price and identify cost levers to deliver the most cost-effective and competitive solutions.
  • Solution Optimization: Maximize scoring and mitigate competitive advantage by optimizing the solution and response.
  • Internal Priorities: Understand and address internal priorities and governance.
  • Requirements Analysis: Undertake requirements analysis and translation to understand service components, standard service offerings, and potential gaps.
  • Leadership: Lead teams collaboratively to achieve shared outcomes and execute external and internal stakeholder management and communication.
  • Commercial Understanding: Possess detailed commercial understanding, including risks, terms and conditions (T&Cs) and service schedules, as well as contractual drafting.
  • Financial Analysis: Conduct detailed price and cost analysis, including internal business case creation.
  • Coaching and mentoring: Undertake coaching, mentoring and people management of colleagues to develop skills and capabilities.
  • Break boundaries: Whilst demonstrating mastery of the cloud and infrastructure portfolio, you will possess a broad understanding of the wider functions and technologies to deliver holistic solutions to our clients.

Your skills and experience

  • Solution Leadership: Ability to lead a solution across different business units, including internal stakeholder management.
  • Solution Deliverability: Work with internal delivery teams to design and articulate solutions that are deliverable once signed.
  • Creativity: Think creatively to craft solutions that meet customer requirements and differentiate from competitors.
  • Portfolio Awareness: Apply the company’s portfolio to solutions, making it real and demonstrating our capability to deliver.
  • Emerging Technologies: Stay aware of the latest developments in emerging technology, automation, and AI, and bring insights and future benefits to new solutions.
  • Environmental Impact: Consider the environmental impact and sustainability of proposals.
  • Solution Pricing Strategy: Drive the solution pricing to a winning position, understanding cost levers and how to use them.
  • Client Business Case: Create and communicate client business cases and benefits realization, including financial analytics and modelling.
  • External Stakeholder Management: Manage external stakeholders and develop client intimacy through site visits, industry days, and client presentations.
  • Contract Management: Drive contract closure and transition from sales to delivery, including early life support and hyper-care phases.
  • Proven Experience: Demonstrated experience in solution architecture or a related role.
  • Strong Communication Skills: Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Leadership Abilities: Proven ability to lead cross-functional teams and manage stakeholders.
  • Commercial Acumen: Strong understanding of commercial terms, conditions, and service schedules.
  • Analytical Skills: Proficiency in price and cost analysis, financial modelling, and business case creation.
  • Creative Thinking: Ability to think creatively and innovate solutions.
  • Technical Knowledge: Awareness of emerging technologies, automation, and AI
