Solution Architect

About the Job you are considering:

The Capgemini Financial Services Open Banking Centre of Excellence (COE) partners with major banks to design and deliver API first, cloud native solutions that accelerate their Open Banking and Banking as a Service (BaaS) ambitions.
As a Solution Architect, you will be at the forefront of this transformation—shaping API channel capabilities, embedded treasury integrations, onboarding experiences, and Open Banking remediation initiatives. You will define secure, scalable, and partner ready architectures that enable seamless external consumption of banking capabilities.

Hybrid working:

The places that you work from day to day will vary according to your role, your needs, and those of the business; it will be a blend of Company offices, client sites, and your home; noting that you will be unable to work at home 100% of the time.

Your Role:

  • Lead the design of external API channel capabilities, ensuring high performance, secure, and standards aligned connectivity for clients and ecosystem partners.
  • Define end to end API architectures, including authentication/authorization flows, data models, integration patterns, and API security controls.
Establish and enforce API design best practices, contributing to reusable standards, templates, and governance frameworks.
    Embedded Treasury Solutions
  • Architect embedded treasury capabilities—including payments, FX, liquidity, and cash management—integrated directly into partner and client platforms.
  • Collaborate with treasury, product, and engineering teams to design real time, event driven API services enabling embedded finance use cases.
  • Developer Onboarding, Permissions & Sandbox
  • Design and enhance onboarding and registration flows for developers integrating with the bank’s external APIs.
  • Define frameworks for entitlements/permissions, API access control, and automated provisioning.
  • Shape the architecture and experience of sandbox environments, ensuring frictionless testing, experimentation, and certification for partners.

Your Skills:

  • Strong expertise in UK Open Banking standards, customer journey flows, regulatory frameworks, and practical implementation experience.
  • Extensive experience architecting large scale API integration and Open Banking/BaaS programmes within banking or payments.
  • Deep knowledge of REST API design principles, including Swagger/OpenAPI or RAML specification authoring.
  • Expertise in OAuth2, OIDC, FAPI, and broader API security patterns.
  • Understanding of Domain Driven Design and its application to API and microservice ecosystems.
  • Strong experience with API management platforms such as MuleSoft, Apigee, Kong, or AWS API Gateway.
  • Hands on understanding of building and deploying distributed microservices using Java, Spring Boot, and cloud native patterns.
