About the Job you are considering:
As a Solution Architect you will be at the forefront of this transformation shaping API channel capabilities embedded treasury integrations onboarding experiences and Open Banking remediation initiatives You will define secure scalable and partner ready architectures that enable seamless external consumption of banking capabilities
Hybrid working:
The places that you work from day to day will vary according to your role, your needs, and those of the business; it will be a blend of Company offices, client sites, and your home; noting that you will be unable to work at home 100% of the time.
Key Accountabilities:
- API Channel Architecture Leadership
- Lead the design of external API channel capabilities ensuring high performance secure and standards aligned connectivity for clients and ecosystem partners
- Define end to end API architectures including authentication authorization flows data models integration patterns and API security controls
- Establish and enforce API design best practices contributing to reusable standards templates and governance frameworks
- Embedded Treasury Solutions
- Architect embedded treasury capabilities including payments FX liquidity and cash management integrated directly into partner and client platforms
- Collaborate with treasury product and engineering teams to design real time event driven API services enabling embedded finance use cases
- Developer Onboarding Permissions Sandbox
- Design and enhance onboarding and registration flows for developers integrating with the bank’s external APIs
- Define frameworks for entitlements permissions API access control and automated provisioning
- Shape the architecture and experience of sandbox environments ensuring frictionless testing experimentation and certification for partners
- Open Banking Review Remediation
- Conduct architectural reviews of existing Open Banking implementations to assess compliance performance consent management and security posture
- Define remediation strategies addressing gaps across API standards customer journeys operational processes data sharing and regulatory alignment
- Solution Delivery Governance
- Produce high quality solution design artefacts independently or with technical teams
- Support programme planning estimation dependency mapping and risk issue identification
- Engage stakeholders in workshops design sessions and architecture boards to validate and evolve solution direction
- Review technical designs and code from delivery teams to ensure alignment with solution intent and architectural principles
- Work with delivery leads to translate architecture into iterative sprint aligned deliverables
- Ensure evolving requirements and change requests remain aligned to the defined solution and regulatory expectations
Your Skills:
- Strong expertise in UK Open Banking standards customer journey flows regulatory frameworks and practical implementation experience
- Extensive experience architecting large scale API integration and Open Banking BaaS programmes within banking or payments
- Deep knowledge of REST API design principles including Swagger Open API or RAML specification authoring
- Expertise in OAuth2 OIDC FAPI and broader API security patterns
- Understanding of Domain Driven Design and its application to API and microservice ecosystems
- Strong experience with API management platforms such as MuleSoft Apigee Kong or AWS API Gateway
- Hands on understanding of building and deploying distributed microservices using Java Spring Boot and cloud native patterns
- Strong grip on cross cutting concerns including observability monitoring logging resilience error handling and operational readiness
- Experience with tools such as Splunk ELK Elastic Stack or equivalent monitoring platforms
- Expertise with at least one major public cloud AWS preferred
- Knowledge of Enterprise Integration Patterns event driven architectures and platforms such as Kafka
