Your Role

Energy Transition and Utilities is the largest sector in Capgemini Invent’s private portfolio, with a dominant brand position across all our five subsectors - Nuclear, Water, Networks, Energy Retail and Energy Transition.

As part of our ongoing growth, we are seeking an experienced senior leader from consulting and/or wider industry to join our Nuclear team. The UK is in the process of transitioning towards low-carbon energy generation, and nuclear power will form a major part of our future energy mix. You will ideally come with experience of the nuclear sector and knowledge of the full nuclear lifecycle, including fuels, new build, commissioning, operations, waste management, and decommissioning. Equally, we are also interested in candidates with a strong experience in an adjacent sector who are interested in a move to nuclear. You should have a firm grasp of the major challenges facing the industry, as well as a clear ambition to work towards overcoming these hurdles.

At Capgemini Invent, our Nuclear team is a diverse mix of engineers, business consultants, industry experts, and information and technology specialists who are passionate about bringing Capgemini’s digital transformation expertise to our nuclear clients. As part of this team, you will have the opportunity to grow a market-leading business, and you will take on leadership roles on some of the UK’s most high-profile nuclear projects.

You should come with a deep understanding of how digital technologies and methodologies can be deployed to bring best practice into complex engineering/programme environments, ideally with an understanding of the nuclear context. You will be working collaboratively with our nuclear clients to deploy this knowledge at all levels of their organisations and across all stages of their project lifecycles.

In this role, you will:

  • Be part of the nuclear leadership team shaping the strategy and direction of Capgemini’s nuclear business
  • Leverage our team’s understanding of the specific context of our nuclear clients to utilise the breadth and depth of our world-class cross-sector expertise in the work we do
  • Draw on the experience you have gained so far, either in the nuclear sector or other relevant sectors, to develop new ideas on how to deliver value for our nuclear clients
  • Manage the delivery of nuclear projects and programmes, including defining the vision and scope, setting strategic direction, owning key relationships with senior client representatives, driving teams forward towards agreed outcomes, and ensuring cohesion within your team
  • Lead medium to large multi-disciplinary teams, being the focal point for your team members, owning project/programme deliverables, and aligning with client delivery governance
  • Take ownership of, and accountability for, the management of risks at the delivery, project, and programme levels
  • Partner with your nuclear client stakeholders to build nuclear strategies and business/ investment cases, and take accountability for the creation of project delivery plans and delivery roadmaps by members of your team
  • Be a trusted partner to your nuclear client stakeholders for defining future business and organisation models that combine an integrated view of people, process, technology, and data strategies
  • Upskill your colleagues and team members by drawing on the experience and insights you have gained from delivery in complex engineering/ programme environments
  • Coach and mentor members of your team, ensuring that project goals/milestones are understood and prioritised whilst respecting the wants and needs of individuals within your team.
  • Play a key role in internal recruitment processes to bring new talent into the nuclear team and into wider Capgemini

Your Profile

We would love to meet someone who demonstrates the following key skills and behaviours:

  • You collaborate and communicate well with others, building and maintaining strong networks and working effectively both as a leader and a colleague
  • You delegate effectively, ensuring that members of your team are given clear direction and are empowered to drive the desired outcomes
  • You thrive in fast-paced, high-performing environments and drive excellence in project delivery, holding yourself to the highest of standards and setting an example for your team
  • You constantly demonstrate a proactive ‘growth’ mindset and actively work with senior leadership to pursue opportunities that you have identified
  • Currently working in a major Consulting firm, and/or in the nuclear (or adjacent) industry but having a Consulting background
  • An understanding of the major challenges facing the nuclear industry and a point of view on digital best practices within the sector
  • Proven ability to be successful in a matrixed organisation, and to lead peers in selling and delivering consulting solutions
  • Experience of leading proposition building and managing medium-large delivery teams on complex engineering/infrastructure programmes
