SOLUTION ARCHITECT

Job Title: Solution Architect

Location: London/Northampton

 

Role Overview

We are seeking an experienced Solution Architect with strong expertise in banking deposit products (particularly Notice/Term Deposits) to lead the documentation, assessment, and design of end‑to‑end architecture for onboarding and servicing journeys. The ideal candidate will have deep knowledge of financial services, excellent communication skills, and proven experience creating high‑quality solution designs and architectural assets.

 

Hybrid working:

The places that you work from day to day will vary according to your role, your needs, and those of the business; it will be a blend of Company offices, client sites, and your home; noting that you will be unable to work at home 100% of the time.

 

Your Role

Architecture & Solution Design

  • Document the current (“As‑Is”) end‑to‑end architecture for Notice Deposits product onboarding and servicing journeys.
  • Identify and document all solution components, integration touchpoints, supporting systems, and dependencies for both client and employee journeys.
  • Create comprehensive architectural documentation using Confluence/JIRA, including:
    • Logical Architecture diagrams
    • Sequence Diagrams
    • Data Flow Diagrams (DFDs)
    • High-Level Designs (HLDs)
  • Conduct impact assessments for changes across systems and journeys.

Stakeholder Management & Governance

  • Perform peer reviews with internal teams and client SMEs to ensure architecture accuracy and completeness.
  • Present solution documents in relevant Design Authority forums and incorporate feedback.
  • Walk stakeholders—both technical and non‑technical—through solution designs and architecture decisions.
  • Lead and facilitate workshops to understand current state architecture and identify candidates for future-state modernization.

Collaboration & Delivery

  • Work closely with cross‑functional teams to support project deliverables, ensuring quality and timely completion.
  • Collaborate with business, technology, operations, and risk partners to ensure alignment on solution approaches.
  • Support the identification and optimization of cost drivers to ensure cost‑effective architectural solutions.

 

Your Job

 

Technical Skills

  • Strong proficiency with data technologies, including real‑time data streaming and batch processing.
  • Experience designing solutions for banking deposit products, especially term or notice deposits.
  • Ability to assess solution risks and propose mitigation strategies.
  • Solid understanding of banking processes, financial services architecture, and integration patterns.

Soft Skills

  • Excellent communication skills with the ability to articulate complex architectural concepts to diverse audiences.
  • Strong leadership, stakeholder management, and client engagement capabilities.
  • Ability to drive consensus, manage expectations, and lead discussions with senior stakeholders.

 

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience in core banking transformations or deposit systems modernization.
  • Familiarity with architectural frameworks and patterns (TOGAF, microservices, event-driven architecture, etc.).
  • Background in solution architecture, enterprise architecture, or technical business analysis.
