Job Title: Product Owner

Location: London / Northampton

 

Role Overview 

We are seeking an experienced Product Owner / Business Product Owner with strong expertise in Delegated Authority within the London Market / Reinsurance domain.

This role will focus on owning and delivering a data-driven delegated authority product, driving transformation, governance, and operational efficiency across underwriting and claims processes.

The ideal candidate will combine deep domain expertise, Agile product ownership experience, and strong stakeholder management capabilities.

 

Hybrid working:

The places that you work from day to day will vary according to your role, your needs, and those of the business; it will be a blend of Company offices, client sites, and your home; noting that you will be unable to work at home 100% of the time.

 

Your Role

Domain Expertise

  • Strong experience in Delegated Authority (DA) within:
    • London Market
    • Reinsurance
  • Deep understanding of:
    • Coverholders
    • Bordereaux
    • Governance frameworks
    • Delegated underwriting and claims oversight

 

Product Delivery

  • Proven experience as a:
    • Product Owner / Business Product Owner
  • Strong knowledge of Agile delivery methodologies (Scrum / SAFe)
  • Ability to translate business needs into:
    • Clear, structured, and actionable requirements
  • Experience working in data-driven transformation programs

 

Core Capabilities

  • Excellent stakeholder management and communication skills
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving ability
  • Ability to operate in complex, cross-functional environments

 

Nice to Have

  • Experience with Lloyd’s London Market (e.g., VIPR)
  • Exposure to:
    • Delegated authority platforms
    • Underwriting systems
    • Data platforms
  • Agile certifications:
    • CSPO, SAFe, or similar

Product Ownership & Delivery

  • Own and manage the Delegated Authority product roadmap and backlog
  • Translate business requirements into:
    • Prioritized user stories
    • Clear deliverables
  • Lead Agile ceremonies:
    • Sprint planning
    • Backlog refinement
    • Stand-ups
  • Ensure product delivery aligns with:
    • Business value
    • Regulatory requirements
    • Strategic objectives

 

Delegated Authority SME Responsibilities

 

Act as a Subject Matter Expert (SME) across:

  • Coverholder onboarding and management
  • Binding authority agreements
  • Bordereaux processing:
    • Premium
    • Claims
    • Validation
  • Delegated underwriting and claims oversight
  • Governance controls and reporting
  • Identify opportunities for:
    • Automation
    • Standardization
    • Operational efficiency improvements

 

Stakeholder Management

  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams:
    • Underwriting
    • Operations
    • Claims
    • Compliance
    • Finance
    • Data teams
  • Act as the primary interface between business stakeholders and delivery teams
  • Facilitate workshops and discussions to:
    • Define priorities
    • Align expectations
  • Manage communication across senior stakeholders

 

Data, Controls & Governance

  • Drive improvements in:
    • Data quality
    • Bordereaux ingestion
    • Reporting capabilities
  • Embed:
    • Controls
    • Auditability
    • Compliance requirements into product design
  • Define and track:
    • KPIs
    • Performance metrics
    • Operational insights
