About the Job you are considering:
The Project / Programme Manager will be responsible for leading strategic change initiatives across investment banking and financial services functions. The role requires an experienced delivery professional with strong project and programme management expertise, capable of driving complex initiatives across multiple stakeholders, managing delivery risks, coordinating testing and UAT activities, and ensuring successful execution within agreed timelines and budgets.
The successful candidate will possess deep financial services experience, preferably within investment banking environments, and demonstrate the ability to influence senior stakeholders while delivering projects through both Agile and Waterfall methodologies.
Hybrid working:
The places that you work from day to day will vary according to your role, your needs, and those of the business; it will be a blend of Company offices, client sites, and your home; noting that you will be unable to work at home 100% of the time.
Your Role:
Programme & Project Management
- Lead end-to-end delivery of strategic projects and programmes from initiation through implementation.
- Define project scope, timelines, milestones, dependencies, budgets, and resource requirements.
- Develop and maintain project plans, RAID logs, governance documentation, and status reporting.
- Ensure projects are delivered on schedule, within budget, and aligned with business objectives.
- Drive execution across cross-functional teams operating in global environments.
Agile & Delivery Management
- Facilitate Agile ceremonies including sprint planning, daily stand-ups, retrospectives, and backlog reviews where required.
- Apply SAFe Agile methodologies and frameworks to support large-scale programme delivery.
- Manage delivery using both Agile and Waterfall approaches based on project requirements.
- Coordinate with technology, operations, and business teams to ensure effective execution and issue resolution.
Testing & UAT Management
- Oversee testing and User Acceptance Testing (UAT) activities from a project management perspective.
- Develop testing governance, execution plans, defect management processes, and reporting frameworks.
- Ensure business stakeholders are aligned and adequately prepared for UAT execution.
- Monitor testing progress and manage resolution of issues impacting project delivery.
Your Skills:
Essential
- Approximately 15+ years of overall industry experience, primarily within Financial Services.
- Minimum 6-7 years of Project Management and Programme Management experience at AVP or equivalent level.
- Strong experience delivering complex projects within Investment Banking environments.
- Good understanding of the trade lifecycle and front-to-back investment banking processes.
- Demonstrated expertise in both Agile and Waterfall delivery methodologies.
- Experience managing large-scale testing and UAT activities from a project management perspective.
- Proven track record of managing senior stakeholders and programme sponsors.
- Strong problem-solving, decision-making, and influencing skills.
- Experience delivering projects under tight timelines and challenging environments.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Advanced proficiency in Microsoft PowerPoint and Excel.
- Experience producing executive-level presentations, governance materials, and status reports.
Desirable
- Experience within Finance, Accounting, Product Control, or Financial Reporting domains.
- SAFe Agile certification or practical SAFe implementation experience.
- PMP, Prince2, Agile PM, Scrum Master, or equivalent project management certification.
- Experience managing global and multi-location teams.
- Exposure to regulatory, risk, or transformation programmes within financial institutions.
Regulatory Knowledge
- Understanding of investment banking operating models and governance frameworks.
- Awareness of regulatory change delivery processes within financial institutions.
- Knowledge of project governance, risk management, and control standards.
- Familiarity with testing, compliance, and audit requirements within banking environments.
