Operational Business Analyst

Job Title

Operational Business Analyst (Southampton)

About the Job you are considering:

This role focuses on improving business processes and ensuring that data quality issues are resolved at the source. It involves documenting current (AS‑IS) and future (TO‑BE) processes, performing data cleansing activities, and creating robust, auditable documentation. The position also requires detailed analysis of data to identify cohorts, determine appropriate cleanse treatments, and work closely with various business areas to understand how underlying data is used. Continuous reporting on cleanse progress and producing approved process and procedure documents are key responsibilities.

Hybrid working:

The places that you work from day to day will vary according to your role, your needs, and those of the business; it will be a blend of Company offices, client sites, and your home; noting that you will be unable to work at home 100% of the time.

Your Role:

  • Map and analyse AS‑IS and TO‑BE business processes to ensure data issues are properly addressed and fixed at the source.
  • Create and maintain robust, auditable documentation for all processes and cleansing activities.
  • Identify data validation issues, determine root causes, and define accurate resolution paths.
  • Develop and maintain data cleanse trackers to monitor activities and progress.
  • Conduct in‑depth data analysis to identify cleansing requirements and separate data into cohorts requiring similar treatment.
  • Work closely with business teams to understand the use of underlying data, scope cleansing volumes, and suggest suitable cleanse strategies.
  • Liaise with internal and external stakeholders such as COH, adviser firms, IT teams, and 3rd‑party providers for executing manual or automated cleanses.
  • Produce routine progress reports on cleansing activities.
  • Facilitate the creation and approval of process and procedural documentation.

Your Skills:

  • Strong analytical skills with the ability to understand business areas, their data usage, and how systems interact.
  • Ability to view business problems from multiple perspectives — process, data requirements, technology, and operational workflow.
  • Excellent communication and collaboration skills for liaising with SMEs, technology teams, and wider stakeholders.
  • Advanced Excel skills for data manipulation, analysis, and reporting.
  • Strong process and procedure modelling capabilities
