Your role:

The successful candidate will join our Central Markets sub-sector, where they will bring experience in GB energy market systems and regulation, either as a consultant, or from working within the industry for a central body, energy supplier or network operator. You will leverage this experience and insight to shape and lead complex technical and regulatory change across organisations and industry participants, contributing to wider market and whole-system transformation.

Key activities for the role include:

  • Leading the development and assessment of technical changes to energy industry central systems.
  • Leading and assuring the effective implementation of industry changes from a central code body perspective, coordinating across affected parties.
  • Providing trusted advice and guidance to senior clients and industry stakeholders on technical aspects of the regulatory framework and the systems that support that framework.
  • Shaping practical solutions to industry challenges by translating policy, regulatory, market and technical developments into delivery.
  • Leading engagement, training and support for industry parties and senior stakeholders.
  • Shaping and implementing strategies to support our clients in improving energy consumer and wider system outcomes.
  • Leading continuous service improvement initiatives.
  • Leading complex workstreams and multidisciplinary teams, maintaining accountability for quality, outcomes and delivery in ambiguous environments.

As a member of the wider Energy Transition & Utilities (ET&U) sector, you will also be expected to contribute to initiatives across ET&U, including developing client relationships, supporting proposals and revenue generation, and helping to develop our people and practice.

Your profile:

You’ll have a blend of the senior-level experience below:

  • Regulation – A strong understanding of GB Energy Market regulation, with SME level expertise in industry systems and the ability to translate regulatory and policy developments into practical implications for organisations and programmes.
  • Energy System Operations – evidence of experience in the workings of the physical energy system, the data that flows through this system, and the agreements that underpin it.  You will have gained this through work with TOs, SOs, DNOs / DSOs, or significant delivery partners to these organisations.
  • Central Markets experience – developed by working with or for organisations across the regulated energy system, such as government, regulators, system operators, code and market bodies, energy suppliers and network operators.

You will also bring leadership and management consulting skills, which may include all or some of:

  • Leading complex technical change effectively, including through ambiguity.
  • Applying working knowledge of modern architecture frameworks and technologies.
  • Building trusted relationships with senior clients, identifying and resolving issues and problems.
  • Shaping and leading complex change programmes and workstreams.
  • Shaping and overseeing the delivery of digital technology requirements.
  • Driving operational improvement and delivery.
  • Leading industry change and senior stakeholder engagement across complex, multi-party environments.
  • Leading teams of varying sizes, managing multiple workstreams and collaborating across organisational boundaries to achieve tangible, positive outcomes, while supporting the development of colleagues.

Lastly, you will also have digital/systems experience.  Other parts of Capgemini focus on technology delivery, so we are looking for candidates that can bridge business and industry with technology, with an equal focus.

What you'll love about working here:

The energy transition is a generation-defining challenge. But we believe it’s not just what it averts, but what it enables in our economy and society, that matters. We envision a world in which energy is clean, affordable and abundant, powering a new wave of industrial growth and social opportunity.

The energy industry’s transition to clean energy is a fundamental enabler for every other industry’s ability to reach net-zero.  The transition also provides a huge opportunity to positively impact the human side of business: deeper customer relationships, consumer perception and talent attraction.

Helping energy and utilities organisations to harness the vast economic and societal potential of the energy transition and build a better future is our passion and purpose.
