Hybrid working:

The places that you work from day to day will vary according to your role, your needs, and those of the business; it will be a blend of Company offices, client sites, and your home; noting that you will be unable to work at home 100% of the time.

 

Key Responsibilities:

  • Deliver high-quality, scalable application solutions that meet business and customer needs.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to translate requirements into effective outcomes.
  • Contribute to the design and implementation of new features and enhancements.
  • Ensure solutions are reliable, responsive, maintainable, and aligned with quality standards.
  • Produce clean, well-structured, and reusable code that supports long-term sustainability.
  • Participate in peer reviews and actively contribute to team knowledge sharing and continuous improvement.
  • Investigate, troubleshoot, and resolve issues efficiently to minimise disruption and maintain service quality.
  • Identify opportunities to improve development processes, team productivity, and local development practices.
  • Bring innovative thinking to technical challenges and contribute ideas that enhance delivery outcomes.
  • Stay current with industry trends, emerging practices, and AI-enabled ways of working to support a future-ready workforce.

 

Must-Have Skills

  • Experience designing, developing, and maintaining enterprise-grade Java applications.
  • Strong understanding of object-oriented programming principles and software engineering best practices.
  • Ability to interpret requirements and low-level designs and translate them into high-quality solutions.
  • Experience working effectively within a collaborative development team environment.
  • Strong communication and stakeholder collaboration skills.
  • Understanding of coding standards, code quality principles, and secure development practices.
  • Experience writing and executing unit tests to validate solution quality.
  • Proven problem-solving skills with the ability to analyse and resolve technical issues effectively.
  • Commitment to continuous learning, innovation, and adopting new ways of working.
  • Awareness of AI-assisted delivery approaches and their application within the software development lifecycle.

 

Good-to-Have Skills

  • Experience with Java, J2EE, Spring, Spring Boot, and Hibernate.
  • Exposure to SOAP and REST-based service development.
  • Familiarity with API-led integration approaches.
  • Knowledge of modern application architecture patterns.
  • Understanding of agile delivery methodologies.
  • Experience contributing to code reviews and development best practices.
  • Relevant Java or cloud-related certifications.
  • Exposure to Financial Services industry projects or regulated environments.
