Job Title: CARDS - Enterprise Architect - D2 - LONDON 

About the Job you are considering:

We are seeking an experienced CTO Lead Enterprise Architect to own and govern end to end technology architecture for the Merchant Acquiring and Payments Acceptance business and to lead the strategic transformation towards the next generation payments platform among FinTech. This role acts as the senior most architectural authority across the acquiring estate ensuring stability scalability resilience security and regulatory compliance of the current ecosystem while defining and executing the future state enterprise architecture for next generation acquiring capabilities.

Hybrid working:
The places that you work from day to day will vary according to your role, your needs, and those of the business; it will be a blend of Company offices, client sites, and your home; noting that you will be unable to work at home 100% of the time.

Job Role

  • Own the enterprise architecture strategy for the end-to-end Merchant Acquiring domain, including onboarding, underwriting, KYC/AML, payments processing, billing, risk, fraud, disputes, and chargebacks
  • Define and govern target and transition architectures for migration to new fintech platforms, acting as final design authority for acquiring-related solutions
  • Set and own the long-term technology strategy and roadmap for Payments Acceptance, providing CTO-level architectural direction
  • Lead transformation and migration initiatives, defining coexistence strategies between legacy and target platforms with minimal customer impact
  • Oversee large-scale system integration, data migration, resilience, and high-availability designs across multi-region environments
  • Chair or represent architecture review boards and governance forums, approving end-to-end solution and regulatory remediation designs
  • Ensure all solutions meet security, privacy, resilience, operational excellence, and regulatory compliance standards
  • Sponsor and oversee proofs of concept for emerging technologies and fintech innovations

Job Skills

  • Deep expertise in enterprise, solution, and domain architecture within payments and merchant acquiring
  • Strong knowledge of payment authorization, clearing, settlement, billing, reconciliation, risk, fraud, and dispute management systems
  • Proven experience defining technology strategies, roadmaps, and transition architectures at enterprise and CTO level
  • Strong understanding of cloud platforms, API-first, domain-driven, and event-driven architecture patterns
  • Experience with SaaS, PaaS, vendor onboarding, and large-scale fintech platform migrations
  • Strong background in legacy modernisation, technical debt remediation, and platform decommissioning strategies
  • Expertise in resilience, high availability, multi-region architectures, and operational readiness
  • Solid understanding of regulatory, AML, KYC, security, privacy, and data protection requirements in financial services
  • Excellent architectural governance, design assurance, and risk management capabilities
  • Strong stakeholder management, decision-making, and executive communication skills.
