Consultant/Senior Consultant - AI Tokenomics

Your Role

As an AI Tokenomics Consultant/Senior Consultant, you will have a developing understanding of AI technologies, cloud-based AI services, and the financial implications of token-based consumption. They will use their analytical skills to monitor, report and optimise AI usage and cost data, supporting organisations as they extend FinOps practices into the emerging field of AI Tokenomics.


AI Tokenomics is an emerging discipline focused on how AI token consumption is measured, attributed, optimised and connected to business value. 

 

An example of the individual’s day-to-day responsibilities:

 

  •  Monitor AI consumption and token usage patterns to identify cost, efficiency and value optimisation opportunities.
  • Develop reports, metrics and models to analyse AI usage, token consumption, model costs and forecast future AI spend.
  • Support the creation of dashboards showing AI consumption by team, product, use case, model, provider and business outcome.
  • Collaborate with technical owners, AI product teams and engineering teams to understand, forecast and optimise token-based AI spend.
  • Analyse key AI cost drivers such as input tokens, output tokens, model selection, context length, prompt design, retries, embeddings and API consumption
  • Support the review of AI use cases for cost, expected value, scalability and alignment to business objectives.
  • Work with FinOps, finance, sourcing and technology teams to support budgeting, showback, chargeback and cost allocation for AI services.
  • Help identify opportunities to improve AI efficiency through model tiering, prompt optimisation, caching, context management, usage limits and workload routing.
  • Support client-facing workshops, maturity assessments and reporting activities focused on FinOps for AI and AI Tokenomics.
  • Create documentation and guidance to educate users on AI cost management, token efficiency and responsible consumption of generative AI services.
  • Support analysis across AI platforms and providers such as Azure OpenAI, AWS Bedrock, Google Vertex AI, OpenAI API, Anthropic, Databricks and Snowflake AI services where relevant.
  • Provide insight into emerging AI pricing models and token-based cost structures to help teams make more informed technology and investment decisions.

  • Business Development – Leading/contributing to proposals, RFPs, bids, proposition development, client pitch contribution, client hosting at events.
  • Internal contribution – Campaign development, internal think-tanks, whitepapers, practice development (operations, recruitment, team events & activities), offering development.
  • Learning & development – Training to support your career development and the skills demand within the company, certifications etc.

Your Profile

 

 

You will have some of the following skils and attributes:

 

  • FinOps Certified Practitioner (FinOps Foundation)
  • FinOps for AI Certified Practitioner (FinOps Foundation)
  • Foundational understanding of generative AI, large language models and cloud-based AI services.
  • Background or interest in financial analytics, technology cost management, cloud economics or AI cost optimisation.
  • Experience using MS Excel, Power BI, reporting tools or dashboarding capabilities.
  • Ability to analyse usage and cost data and translate findings into meaningful insights.
  • Strong communication skills and the ability to work with technical, finance and business stakeholders.
  • Awareness of major cloud and AI platforms such as Azure, AWS, GCP, OpenAI, Anthropic or Databricks.
  • Previous experience in FinOps, cloud cost management, data analysis, financial analysis, technology consulting or a related field.

 

It would be a bonus if you have:

 

  • Exposure to FinOps for AI, AI cost management, AI product analytics or model usage reporting.
  • Understanding of token-based pricing concepts, including input tokens, output tokens, context windows, embeddings and API calls.
  • Experience supporting workshops, client engagements, maturity assessments or operating model activities.
  • Awareness of FOCUS, cloud billing data, cost allocation, tagging, showback or chargeback processes.
  • Interest in emerging standards and practices from the FinOps Foundation and Tokenomics Foundation.

Whilst you will have London, Manchester or Glasgow as an office base location, you must be fully flexible in terms of assignment location, as these roles may involve periods of time away from home at short notice.
