Optical Network Engineer

We are seeking a highly skilled Optical Network Engineer with expertise in optical technologies and hands-on experience with Ciena equipment. The ideal candidate will be responsible for performing network software upgrades, conducting network audits, and providing technical support.


YOUR ROLE

 

  • Perform network software upgrades on Ciena devices (OME6500, RLS, Waveserver).
  • Conduct customer network audits, network assessments, and prepare MOP (Method of Procedure).
  • Work closely with the Project Management team and provide daily progress reports.
  • Maintain project documents, daily status reports, and project closing documents.
  • Address upgrade-related issues/alarms and provide resolutions to customers.
  • Prepare prerequisites for software upgrades well in advance.
  • Coordinate with customers before and after activities to validate the status of upgraded devices.

YOUR PROFILE

 

  • BE/BTech/BSc in Computer Science, Electronics & Telecommunications, or an equivalent bachelor's degree.
  • Related certifications are an added benefit.
  • Mandatory Skills:
    • Sound optical networking knowledge and deep understanding of optical technologies (OTN, DWDM, MPLS).
    • Working experience with Site Manager and MCP/Navigator.
    • Basic troubleshooting of faults and issues.
    • Ability to work independently on a 24/7 platform for maintenance activities.
    • Ability to build strong relationships with peers and internal/external customers.
  • Nice to have Skills:
    • Hands-on experience with Ciena equipment (OME6500, RLS, Waveserver, etc.).
    • Experience with transmission devices or working in a NOC environment is an added advantage.
    • Successful practical problem-solving skills, excellent written and interpersonal communication, and documentation skills.
