Senior Scala Engineer

YOUR PROJECT

The project centres on building and enhancing automation across several core areas, including product implementation workflows, billing and provisioning processes, and service‑related activities such as bug resolution and client‑funded feature requests. As a Senior Scala Engineer, you will work within a highly technical environment developing scalable backend services, improving existing automation pipelines, and contributing to the evolution of a complex enterprise ecosystem used for workforce‑ and payroll‑related functionality.

YOUR TASKS

  • Participate in software design, development, refactoring, and code reviews to maintain high development standards
  • Collaborate with platform teams to deliver great results.
  • Optimize the platform to deliver high‑quality, maintainable solutions
  • Close collaboration with cross‑functional teams, ownership of technical decisions

YOUR PROFILE

  • Strong knowledge of Scala (collections, futures, immutability, pattern matching, etc)
  • Good understanding of SQL optimization, indexes, and query profiling
  • Experience with AWS services
  • Understanding of CI/CD and source control (Git, PR flow)

 

Nice to have:

  • Experience with Squeryl, Doobie
  • Familiarity with Grafana / Kibana dashboards and alerting
  • Experience with large distributed systems or horizontal scaling in Play / Pekko
