Senior Ontology Expert

As part of our growing Data & AI practice, we are seeking a Senior Ontology Engineer to lead the development of enterprise semantic models, ontologies, and knowledge graph solutions that enable data interoperability and business understanding at scale.

Your Role

As a Senior Ontology Engineer, you will work closely with business stakeholders, data architects, and engineering teams to design and govern enterprise ontologies that support digital transformation initiatives. You will play a critical role in establishing semantic standards, driving knowledge graph adoption, and creating reusable semantic assets across the organization.

Key Responsibilities

• Define, develop, and maintain enterprise ontologies and semantic models.
• Design and govern Controlled Vocabularies, Taxonomies, and Business Glossaries.
• Establish semantic modeling standards, best practices, and governance frameworks.
• Design reusable semantic models supporting Knowledge Graph and Semantic Data Product initiatives.
• Curate, validate, and manage ontology assets throughout their lifecycle.
• Ensure semantic interoperability across enterprise systems, applications, and data products.
• Collaborate with business SMEs, data architects, and technical teams to standardize terminology and business definitions.
• Facilitate workshops and working sessions to achieve consensus on business concepts and metadata standards.
• Support the implementation and evolution of enterprise knowledge management and semantic technologies.

Required Skills & Experience

• 5+ years of experience in Ontology Engineering, Semantic Modeling, or Knowledge Engineering.
• Strong hands-on experience with:
  • OWL
  • RDF
  • SKOS
  • SHACL
  • Semantic Web technologies
• Proven experience designing, implementing, and governing enterprise ontologies.
• Practical experience delivering Knowledge Graph solutions and semantic data models at enterprise scale.
• Expertise in creating and maintaining:
  • Controlled Vocabularies
  • Taxonomies
  • Business Glossaries
• Strong understanding of:
  • Semantic interoperability
  • Metadata management
  • Ontology governance and lifecycle management
• Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills with the ability to facilitate business workshops and drive consensus among diverse stakeholders.

Nice to Have

• Experience within Manufacturing, Life Sciences, or Pharmaceutical domains.

• Exposure to enterprise data governance initiatives and modern Data & AI platforms.
• Familiarity with Knowledge Graph architecture and semantic technologies within large-scale organizations.
