Senior Kotlin Engineer

We are looking for a Senior Backend Engineer to join a team responsible for building and operating critical customer-facing communication services. The platform processes large-scale transactional messaging and supports millions of interactions across multiple channels.

You will work on scalable distributed systems, contribute to platform modernization initiatives, and help drive reliability, performance, and engineering excellence across the organization.

Responsibilities

• Own and deliver key engineering objectives and quarterly initiatives.
• Lead technical implementation efforts and drive projects through ambiguity.
• Collaborate closely with Product Managers, Designers, Analysts, and other stakeholders throughout the product lifecycle.
• Identify technical, operational, and process improvements and help drive effective solutions.
• Ensure reliability, scalability, and performance of backend services through monitoring, observability, and operational excellence.
• Contribute to architectural discussions and long-term technical strategy.
• Promote engineering best practices, including code reviews, design reviews, and quality standards.
• Mentor and support other engineers through technical guidance, collaboration, and knowledge sharing.
• Support successful delivery of high-impact features and platform enhancements.

Requirements

• 5+ years of professional experience building backend systems using Kotlin.
• Strong experience designing, developing, and operating large-scale distributed systems.
• Hands-on experience with AWS, cloud-native architectures, and modern infrastructure practices.
• Experience with Kubernetes and containerized workloads.
• Experience working with relational and/or NoSQL databases (e.g., MySQL, DynamoDB).
• Strong understanding of software design principles, scalability, resiliency, and performance optimization.
• Experience delivering complex features from design through production deployment.
• Ability to make significant changes within large codebases while maintaining system stability and code quality.
• Ownership mindset with a proactive approach to problem-solving and continuous improvement.
• Strong verbal and written communication skills, with experience working in distributed international teams.
• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or equivalent practical experience.
