Senior API Integration Engineer (Apigee/Azure APIM)

YOUR ROLE

We are seeking an experienced API Integration Engineer to drive the modernization and evolution of our API platform. The ideal candidate will have strong expertise in Apigee, Azure API Management (APIM), and Terraform, coupled with a solid software engineering background and an automation-first mindset.

A key focus of this role will be working with APIM, enabling self-service API capabilities for engineering teams, accelerating API adoption through automation and platform engineering practices. The engineer will also play a critical role in the migration of APIs and associated capabilities from Apigee to Azure APIM, ensuring a scalable, secure, and developer-friendly API ecosystem.

YOUR TASKS

• Design, develop, and manage enterprise-scale API solutions using Apigee and Azure API Management (APIM).
• Lead and execute API migration initiatives from Apigee to Azure APIM, including policy migration, automation, testing, and validation.
• Build and enhance self-service API onboarding and management capabilities to empower development teams and reduce operational dependencies.
• Develop Infrastructure as Code (IaC) solutions using Terraform for API platform provisioning and lifecycle management.
• Create automation frameworks for API deployment, policy management, environment provisioning, and operational workflows.
• Build and maintain CI/CD pipelines using GitHub Actions to enable reliable and consistent deployments.
• Collaborate with platform, application, security, and architecture teams to define API standards and governance.
• Implement API security, traffic management, observability, monitoring, and performance optimization practices.
• Drive engineering excellence through reusable solutions, automation, and best practices.
• Troubleshoot complex integration and platform issues across development, test, and production environments.

YOUR PROFILE

• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field.
• 6-10 years of experience in API engineering, integration engineering, or software engineering roles.
• Hands-on experience with Apigee.
• Hands-on experience with Azure API Management (APIM).
• Strong expertise in Terraform.
• Proven experience in API migration and modernization programs.
• Strong software engineering fundamentals and system design skills.
• Experience developing automation solutions and developer self-service capabilities.
• Hands-on programming experience in Node.js/Python/C#
• Experience with GitHub Actions / GitHub Pipelines and modern CI/CD practices.
• Strong understanding of REST APIs, API lifecycle management, OAuth2, OpenID Connect, JWT, and API security best practices.
• Experience with Git-based development workflows.

Nice to have:

• Good understanding of Azure infrastructure and cloud services, including networking, identity, security, and resource management concepts.
• Experience with Azure-native services and cloud architecture patterns.
• Familiarity with platform engineering and developer experience initiatives.
• Knowledge of API observability and monitoring tools.
