Job Description

Role Summary

The Senior CNF Engineer is responsible for designing, developing, and supporting cloud-native network functions and telecom-grade data mediation workflows. This role combines software engineering, data pipeline development, and platform engineering across CNF, VNF, and bare-metal environments. The engineer will work with high-performance, large-scale systems and mediation platforms commonly used in the telecom industry, including Nokia Mediation or comparable solutions.

Key Responsibilities

Cloud-Native Engineering

  • Design and develop CNF components and microservices for telecom environments.
  • Implement new features following cloud-native principles and best practices.
  • Support deployment models across CNF, VNF, and bare-metal platforms.
  • Perform installation, upgrades, migrations, and lifecycle operations.

Telecom Mediation and Data Pipelines

  • Develop and maintain mediation workflows, nodes, streams, and data transformation logic.
  • Build scalable, high-throughput pipelines for telecom event and usage data.
  • Execute functional testing, validation, and performance optimization.
  • Work with mediation platforms such as Nokia Mediation or similar industry frameworks.

Software Engineering

  • Develop and maintain components using C, C++, Java, Perl, and XML.
  • Optimize existing code for performance, stability, and maintainability.
  • Collaborate on system architecture and design discussions.

Automation and Scripting

  • Create automation using Shell, Bash, Python, and Ansible.
  • Contribute to CI/CD workflows and infrastructure automation.
  • Develop scripts for deployment, configuration, monitoring, and operational tasks.

Troubleshooting and Support

  • Analyze and resolve complex issues across application, platform, and infrastructure layers.
  • Conduct log analysis, debugging, and root cause investigations.
  • Support production environments and participate in critical incident handling.

Database Engineering

  • Work with Oracle SQL, PL/SQL, and PostgreSQL.
  • Optimize queries, schemas, and performance for mediation workflows.
  • Maintain data integrity across data processing pipelines.

Collaboration and Leadership

  • Act as a technical expert on CNF and mediation systems.
  • Mentor mid-level engineers and participate in code reviews.
  • Collaborate with architecture, QA, DevOps, and platform engineering teams.

Required Skills and Experience

Education

  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, Electronics and Communications, or a related field.
  • Master’s degree is an advantage.

Professional Experience

  • 5+ years in telecom software engineering, cloud-native platforms, or mediation systems.
  • Hands-on experience with telecom mediation platforms, including Nokia Mediation.
  • Practical experience designing and maintaining mediation workflows.
  • Understanding of CNF design principles and distributed systems.

Technical Expertise

  • Programming: C, C++, Java, Perl, XML
  • Scripting: Shell, Bash, Python, Ansible
  • Databases: Oracle SQL, PL/SQL, PostgreSQL
  • Platforms: Linux and Unix-based systems
  • Cloud-native: Kubernetes, Docker
  • Telecom domain: CDR processing, charging, event handling, data mediation
