Role Summary
The PaPM Modeler is responsible for designing, developing, and maintaining end to end profitability and performance management models. The role translates business and finance requirements into scalable PaPM models, enabling accurate cost allocation, revenue attribution, margin analysis, and performance insights. The PaPM Modeler works independently on model components and collaborates closely with business stakeholders, FP&A teams, and IT.
Key Responsibilities :
• Design and build PaPM models for cost, revenue, and profitability analysis across products, customers, channels, and organizational units
• Implement allocation logic, drivers, and rules aligned with management accounting principles
• Configure PaPM functions including calculations, allocations, joins, filters, aggregations, and simulations
• Optimize model structure for performance, scalability, and auditability
• Translate business requirements into financial logic and modeling structures
• Perform detailed cost, margin, and profitability analysis
• Support what if, scenario, and sensitivity analysis for business decision making
• Explain model results, assumptions, and drivers to finance and business stakeholders
• Integrate PaPM models with source systems (e.g., S/4HANA, BW, flat files)
• Perform reconciliation and variance analysis between PaPM outputs and financial statements
• Ensure data accuracy, consistency, and traceability across the model
Testing, Deployment & Support
• Lead unit testing and integration testing activities
• Support UAT and resolve defects related to data or logic
• Assist in production deployment and post go live support
• Maintain technical and functional documentation
• Work closely with FP&A, Controlling, IT, and business users
• Adhere to modeling standards, governance frameworks, and best practices
• Mentor junior PaPM modelers and review their work
Required Skills & Competencies
• Strong understanding of management accounting, FP&A, and cost allocation methodologies
• Experience with profitability analysis, contribution margin, and cost to serve models
• Solid knowledge of P&L structures and financial statement linkages
Technical Skills
• Hands on experience with SAP PaPM (mandatory)
• Strong Excel skills for validation, analysis, and reconciliation
• Working knowledge of SAP HANA, SQL, or BW data models
• Understanding of data modeling and performance optimization
Analytical & Behavioral Skills• Strong analytical and problem solving mindset
• Ability to handle complex financial logic independently
• Excellent documentation and communication skills
• Comfortable working with ambiguous requirements
