Senior VDI Engineer (Citrix, AVD)

Your role

Senior VDI Engineer role is ideal for experienced professionals who want to expand their design and consulting capabilities and move into an Architect position.

As a Senior Engineer you bring strong hands-on experience in designing, implementing, and supporting enterprise-scale virtual desktop solutions. You will join a team of experienced Architects and Engineers working in a project environment. You will translate solution designs into reliable technical implementations. Depending on project needs, you may contribute to cloud and VDI transformations, platform migrations, capacity extensions, disaster recovery solutions, or service optimization initiatives.

Your projects

Some technical scenarios you may work with include:

  • Citrix Cloud with Azure Virtual Desktop, where Azure provides the resource layer and Citrix Cloud provides the access and control layers
  • Citrix on-premises extended to Azure Virtual Desktop for additional capacity
  • Cloud-native Azure Virtual Desktop implementations
  • Citrix on-premises with Azure providing burst capacity or disaster recovery capabilities
  • Citrix Cloud as the access and control layer, with resource layers hosted on-premises or across multiple cloud providers, including Azure, AWS, and GCP

Your tasks

  • Implement and configure enterprise-scale VDI solutions based on Citrix and Azure Virtual Desktop
  • Build and configure Citrix Cloud, Citrix on-premises, and Azure Virtual Desktop environments
  • Execute migration activities, including technical preparation, testing, deployment, validation, and troubleshooting
  • Configure and maintain access, control, and resource layer components
  • Implement image management, application delivery, profile management, policies, and user environment configurations
  • Support capacity expansion, disaster recovery, resilience, and performance optimization scenarios
  • Develop automation for deployment, configuration, maintenance, and operational activities
  • Contribute to low-level designs, build documentation, implementation procedures, and operational handover materials
  • Provide technical guidance and knowledge sharing to other engineers

Your profile

  • 6+ years experience in IT
  • Strong hands-on expertise in Citrix technologies, either on-premises or Citrix Cloud
  • Experience with Azure Virtual Desktop, or a willingness to develop expertise in this area
  • Automation and scripting skills, preferably using PowerShell and Terraform
  • Experience working with Azure is a plus
  • Experience creating technical documentation, including low-level designs, build guides
  • Strong troubleshooting and analytical skills, with the ability to resolve complex technical issues
  • Good communication skills and confidence in working with technical teams, stakeholders
  • Fluent English, both spoken and written. German is a plus
