Role Summary:

We are seeking a hands-on AWS Cloud Platform Architect within the CIS Deploy & Run organization to design, build, and operate our enterprise AWS cloud platform supporting CIS managed services.

The role is responsible for the architecture and implementation of secure, scalable, and automated AWS foundations, including AWS Landing Zone Accelerator (LZA), AWS Account Factory for Terraform (AFT), Terraform-based Infrastructure as Code, GitOps workflows, and EKS-based Kubernetes platforms. The platform enables standardized deployment, monitoring, alerting, automation, service management, and reporting across enterprise infrastructure and application workloads.

Working closely with Design & Build teams, the Cloud Platform Architect defines and enforces platform standards and guardrails, supports workload onboarding, and ensures consistent adoption of approved designs in secure and sovereign client environments.

This role combines architectural ownership with hands-on delivery, carrying end-to-end responsibility for multi-account AWS governance, platform automation, observability, EKS foundations, and cloud-native security, while actively contributing code and driving continuous platform improvement.

Key Responsibilities

• Design, implement, and evolve AWS Landing Zones using:
  • AWS Control Tower
  • AWS Landing Zone Accelerator (LZA)
• Build and operate AWS Account Factory for Terraform (AFT) for automated account provisioning
• Own multi-account AWS architecture, including:
  • AWS Organizations and OU design
  • SCPs and guardrails
  • Identity and access models
  • Centralized logging, monitoring, and security
• Design, deploy, and operate EKS-based Kubernetes platform foundations
• Implement Infrastructure as Code (IaC) using Terraform (modules, environments, state, promotion strategies)
• Drive a GitOps operating model for cloud and platform infrastructure
• Define and enforce platform standards, patterns, and golden paths
• Collaborate with solution architects and application teams to onboard workloads to AWS and EKS
• Embed security, compliance, resilience, and cost controls into the platform by design
• Own Day-2 platform concerns: upgrades, scaling, automation, reliability, and continuous improvement

Required Skills & Experience (Must Have)

• Proven, hands-on experience with:
• AWS Landing Zone Accelerator (LZA)
• AWS Account Factory for Terraform (AFT)
• Strong experience designing and operating enterprise multi-account AWS environments
• Advanced Terraform experience for AWS platform and landing zone implementations
• Strong experience with GitOps workflows for infrastructure and platform management
• Hands-on experience designing and operating EKS / Kubernetes platforms at scale
• Deep knowledge of AWS core services:
• IAM, Organizations, VPC, EC2, EKS, S3, CloudWatch, CloudTrail
• Experience integrating IaC with CI/CD pipelines (GitHub, GitLab, Azure DevOps, etc.)
• Strong understanding of cloud-native security patterns and AWS security services
• Ability to translate architectural standards into working, production-grade code
• 8+ years of experience in cloud, infrastructure, or platform engineering roles

Nice to Have

• • Experience with platform engineering concepts (self-service, golden paths, internal developer platforms)
  • Strong scripting skills (Python, Bash)
  • Experience with EKS add-ons (Ingress, Service Mesh, Observability, Policy-as-Code)
  • Operating AWS platforms in regulated or sovereign environments
  • AWS Certifications:
    • Solutions Architect – Professional
    • DevOps Engineer – Professional
    • Security – Specialty
