Senior Apigee Expert

Your Role

As a Senior Apigee Expert, you will play a critical role in the design, implementation, and governance of an enterprise-scale AI Gateway Platform built on Apigee X. You will help establish secure and scalable patterns for exposing AI capabilities, including LLM services, agents, MCP services, and tool orchestration, while ensuring strong governance, security, observability, and operational excellence. You will work closely with platform architects, API specialists, cloud engineers, and business stakeholders to accelerate the delivery of AI-enabled services across the organization. 

In this role you will: 

• Design, configure, and optimize Apigee X organizations, environments, proxies, and shared flows.  

• Develop reusable security and traffic-management policies covering authentication, authorization, quotas, rate limiting, and threat protection.  

• Build reference API gateway patterns supporting MCP services, LLM inference endpoints, AI agents, and tool registries.  

• Define and implement API lifecycle management, governance frameworks, and promotion controls.  

• Troubleshoot complex API gateway, networking, and integration issues.  

• Collaborate with cloud, security, and platform engineering teams to ensure platform reliability and operational readiness.  

• Support monitoring, observability, security audits, and continuous platform improvement initiatives.  

• Produce technical documentation, operational guides, and knowledge-transfer materials.  

• Contribute to establishing best practices for enterprise AI service exposure and governance.  

Your Profile

• Minimum 5 years of experience in API Management, API Gateway Engineering, or Integration Platforms.  
• Advanced hands-on expertise with Google Apigee X.  
• Strong experience designing and implementing API proxies, shared flows, policies, and reusable API management components.  
• Deep understanding of OAuth 2.0, OpenID Connect (OIDC), API security, and enterprise authentication mechanisms.  
• Experience with API governance, lifecycle management, traffic management, and threat protection controls.  
• Knowledge of Apigee X architecture, networking, monitoring, automation, and operational best practices.  
• Experience working with cloud-native platforms and distributed architectures.  
• Understanding AI Gateway concepts, MCP services, LLM integrations, agent frameworks, and AI service exposure patterns is highly desirable.  
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with a hands-on troubleshooting mindset.  
• Excellent communication and documentation skills in English.  
• Proven ability to collaborate across technical and business teams while working autonomously in fast-paced environments.
