Java Lead

Your Role

As a Java Lead with Capgemini, you will provide technical leadership for the design and delivery of secure, scalable digital services and integrations. You will guide engineering teams, define solution patterns, ensure code quality, and collaborate with architects, analysts, QA specialists, and DevOps colleagues in an international delivery environment.

In this role you will:

• Lead the technical design and implementation of Java-based applications, services, and integrations.
• Translate functional and non-functional requirements into robust technical solutions.
• Define and promote coding standards, reusable patterns, secure-development practices, and engineering guidelines.
• Design and review REST APIs, JSON-based integrations, data flows, and interfaces with external systems.
• Guide developers through technical decisions, code reviews, troubleshooting, and continuous improvement.
• Collaborate with Cloud, DevOps, QA, Security, UX, and Business Analysis teams throughout the delivery lifecycle.
• Support CI/CD pipelines, release planning, production-readiness reviews, and defect resolution.
• Ensure solutions meet performance, maintainability, accessibility, security, and operational requirements.
• Provide technical estimates, identify dependencies and risks, and communicate them to delivery stakeholders.
• Maintain clear technical documentation, architecture decisions, and implementation guidance

Your Profile

• Senior professional experience in Java software engineering, including technical leadership responsibilities.
• Strong knowledge of modern Java, Spring or Spring Boot, object-oriented design, and enterprise application patterns.
• Hands-on experience designing and implementing REST APIs and JSON-based integrations.
• Experience with relational databases, data access patterns, and application performance optimization.
• Practical knowledge of Git, automated testing, code-quality controls, and CI/CD practices.
• Experience leading code reviews, mentoring engineers, and resolving complex technical issues.
• Understanding of secure software development and common web-application security risks.
• Ability to work with architects and business stakeholders and convert requirements into technical designs.
• Strong analytical, delivery, and stakeholder-management skills.
• Clear professional English and the ability to work autonomously in an international environment

Nice to have

• Experience with Drupal integrations, public-sector portals, or European institutional projects.
• Cloud-native development experience using containers, Kubernetes, or managed cloud services.
• Knowledge of event-driven architecture, messaging platforms, or API management.
• Exposure to accessibility, web analytics, semantic technologies, or SPARQL endpoints.
