Functional QA Engineer

Your Role

As a Functional QA Engineer / Tester with Capgemini, you will help ensure the quality of the Interoperable Europe Portal by preparing and executing functional test scenarios for monthly releases, documenting evidence, logging defects, supporting user acceptance testing, and contributing to release demonstrations and periodic testing reports.

In this role you will:

• Analyse requirements, user stories, acceptance criteria, improvements, and defect fixes to determine test coverage.
• Author, review, update, and maintain functional test scenarios in Jira or the agreed test-management tool.
• Execute the required functional and regression scenarios for each Portal release, contributing to a recurring suite of approximately 60 scenarios per month.
• Support validation of one planned major monthly release and additional minor or urgent releases when required.
• Record test evidence, results, status, and traceability accurately for each release.
• Log clear, reproducible defects in Jira, including steps, expected and actual results, severity, evidence, and environment details.
• Retest corrected defects and perform targeted regression testing before closure.
• Collaborate closely with the technical team, QA Lead, business stakeholders, and specialist testers.
• Support the identification and coordination of users for relevant user acceptance testing activities.
• Contribute to demonstrations of completed features and to quarterly reports covering tests, defects, risks, results, and release status.

Your Profile

• Professional experience in manual and functional testing of web applications, portals, or digital services.
• Strong knowledge of test-case design, exploratory testing, regression testing, and defect lifecycle management.
• Hands-on experience with Jira or a comparable test and defect management tool.
• Ability to interpret requirements and acceptance criteria and convert them into effective test scenarios.
• Experience creating clear test evidence and high-quality defect reports.
• Understanding of web technologies, browser behavior, APIs, and integration testing fundamentals.
• Strong attention to detail, analytical thinking, and a user-focused quality mindset.
• Ability to manage recurring release deadlines and multiple test cycles.
• Strong collaboration skills and confidence working with technical and business stakeholders.
• Clear professional English, both written and spoken.

Nice to have

• Experience testing Drupal-based platforms or complex content-management systems.
• Knowledge of WCAG 2.2 accessibility testing and web usability principles.
• Exposure to API testing, SPARQL endpoints, performance testing, or test automation.
• Experience supporting UAT, release demonstrations, or European public-sector projects.
