Head of Data Platform Foundations

The Opportunity

As Head of Data Platform Foundations within Group IT, you will take full ownership of the enterprise data platform defining its strategy, architecture, and operational excellence across the organization. This is a senior leadership role at the core of our Data Cloud transformation, ensuring that foundational capabilities are robust, scalable, secure, and aligned with business and technology objectives.
You will operate at the intersection of architecture, engineering, and platform operations, shaping the long term evolution of the data platform while enabling downstream analytics, AI, and business initiatives. This role offers a unique opportunity to build and lead a high performing organization while establishing enterprise grade data platform capabilities at scale.

Your Role

As Head of Data Platform Foundations, you will be responsible for defining, delivering, and operating the core data platform capabilities that underpin enterprise data, analytics, and AI initiatives.
In this role, you will:
•    Define and own the long term technology roadmap for the Data Platform, including automation, modernization, and AI enablement
•    Provide architectural leadership and governance across all Data Cloud initiatives, ensuring alignment with enterprise standards
•    Oversee the design and delivery of core platform components, including landing zones, data pipelines, integrations, and environments
•    Ensure scalability, resilience, performance, and cost efficiency of the Data Platform
•    Drive adoption of DevOps, automation, and Infrastructure as Code practices across the platform organization
•    Establish and enforce security by design principles, including access control, encryption, network isolation, and monitoring
•    Ensure stable and reliable platform operations, covering both batch and real time data pipelines
•    Lead and develop a multidisciplinary organization of architects, engineers, and DevOps specialists
•    Act as the primary interface between business stakeholders, enterprise architecture, and delivery teams
•    Manage strategic relationships with cloud providers, technology vendors, and system integrators

Your Profile

•    10+ years of experience in data platforms, data architecture, or large scale data engineering
•    Minimum 5+ years in a senior leadership or architect role owning enterprise data platforms
•    Strong hands on experience with cloud platforms (GCP, AWS, or Azure) and modern data ecosystems (data lakes, data warehouses, real time architectures)
•    Deep understanding of Infrastructure as Code (e.g. Terraform), CI/CD, and DevOps operating models
•    Solid foundation in cloud infrastructure, networking, landing zones, and security architecture
•    Strong leadership, communication, and decision making capabilities
Nice to have: experience with multi cloud or hybrid cloud environments, exposure to AI/ML platforms, and experience in large regulated enterprise environments.
