Job Description

This role involves the development and application of engineering practice and knowledge in the following technologies: Design of mechanical systems, devices, equipment and machines; installing and maintaining mechanically functioning equipment; simulating a wide range of interactions and evaluate performance in real world scenarios; and develop prototype for manufacturability, testing and validation.

    In this role, you will lead bill of materials validation to improve the fidelity of weight status roll-ups in automotive product development. You will be responsible for generating weight BOMs regularly and conducting thorough analysis to identify issues impacting weight accounting integrity, collaborating with cross-functional teams to ensure accuracy.

    In this role you will play a key role in:

    • Downloading BOMs from corporate systems followed by detailed analysis and weight tracking to maintain data integrity
    • Setting up and facilitating meetings with design teams to review their parts and weights, confirming content and status
    • Working with Weight Team Leads to provide regular weight status updates to the extended team and supporting the development of weight reduction opportunities
    • Coordinating component weighing activities at suppliers and assembly plants to ensure accurate measurements
    • Assisting with the validation of prototype vehicle weights by comparing them to virtual BOM roll-ups to identify discrepancies

    Your profile

    • Good conversational English skills (B1, C1, C2)
    • Bachelor's degree in Engineering from an ABET accredited university
    • 1-3 years of relevant automotive product development experience (Mid level)
    • Strong knowledge of the overall program development life cycle in automotive manufacturing
    • Proficiency in Microsoft computer software (Word, Excel, PowerPoint) with demonstrated experience in data analysis
    • Experience analyzing complex data sets and formulating meaningful conclusions and recommendations
    • Ability to work effectively in a team environment, build good working relationships and gain consensus across multiple stakeholders
    • Strong communication skills, both verbal and written
    • Self-motivated with ability to work with limited supervision, multi-task and prioritize workload effectively
    • Experience with mass properties or development of weight estimates in the automotive or aerospace field is highly desirable

 

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Proficient at conducting data analysis and formulating observations

  • Prior experience with mass properties or development of weight estimates in the automotive or Aerospace field
  • Strong communicator both (verbal & written)
