Senior Automotive Diagnostic Engineer

Your role  
As a Senior Diagnostics System engineer at our customer, you are primarily responsible for defining, validating, and improving diagnostic capabilities for vehicles in operation. You do this by developing, Diagnostic databases, Troubleshooting methods, as well as improving diagnostic tools and processes. The main purpose is to reduce vehicle downtime by enhancing dealer technician troubleshooting efficiency.
Your main task is to gather and submit diagnostic data from R&D Engineering teams into the Diagnostic database and verify that the methods and tools within fault tracing, including the DTCs, are efficient and accurate. You are the bridge between aftermarket workshops, software/ECU development teams, and service tool developers.

In this role you will play a key role in:
•    Analyse recurring patterns, common faults, and technician pain points in workshops and use workshop cases, field feedback, and warranty information to identify diagnostic gaps.
•    High quality Diagnostic Content & Procedures by securing meaningful and actionable DTCs.
•    Support root-cause analysis and corrective actions on high-impact or repeated faults, by performing detailed fault tracing on real vehicles using diagnostic tools (e.g., TechTool, GDSP).
•    Aftermarket Process and Tool integration and improvement, by providing insights on how diagnostic information impacts workshop efficiency and uptime centres.
•    Contribute to updates in diagnostic applications such as TechTool or GDSP and participate in testing for new service tool releases and vehicle program readiness.

Your Profile
•    Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical, Automotive, Electrical, or Mechatronics Engineering.
•    5-10+ years experience in Automotive Diagnostics preferably within Heavy Duty applications.
•    Working in aftermarket or workshop environments is highly valuable, with hands-on experience with diagnostic engineering and tools (e.g., TechTool, SEWS, GDSP).
•    Knowledge of CAN, LIN, J1939, UDS/OBD protocols.
•    Strong understanding of Automotive system design (incl. AutoSAR) is needed.

Application
The work is performed onsite at our customer, with frequent collaboration with the corresponding Global engineering teams for each of the technical domains. Occasional travel might be needed for critical root cause analysis, pilot testing or training support.
