Senior Data & AI Architect

YOUR ROLE

We are looking for a Senior Data & AI Architect to help shape enterprise data and AI architecture for complex client environments. You will combine strategic data architecture, governance and modern cloud platforms with practical AI, Generative AI and Agentic AI expertise. Working with senior stakeholders and multidisciplinary delivery teams, you will turn organisational priorities into secure, governed and implementable solutions.

Key Responsibilities of the role:

• Define and evolve enterprise data and AI architecture aligned with organisational strategy, business priorities and transformation objectives, including target-state architectures, principles, standards and technology roadmaps.
• Lead enterprise data architecture and governance, ensuring effective data modelling, ownership, quality, security, privacy, metadata, lineage and compliance across the organisation.
• Design scalable data, analytics and integration platforms, including data products, APIs, ingestion pipelines and event-driven architectures that support business and operational outcomes.
• Lead architecture for AI/ML, Generative AI, Retrieval-Augmented Generation (RAG) and Agentic AI solutions, ensuring they are built on trusted, governed and secure enterprise data.
• Translate business requirements into secure, scalable and commercially viable architectures, balancing cost, risk, performance, maintainability and long-term value while evaluating emerging technologies and innovation opportunities.
• Lead architecture assessments, discovery engagements and strategic advisory activities, providing architecture assurance and guiding investment decisions that support long-term transformation objectives.
• Act as a trusted adviser to senior stakeholders, providing technical leadership, mentoring architects and practitioners, and embedding Responsible AI, security, governance and best practices across delivery teams.

YOUR PROFILE

• Significant experience defining enterprise data architectures, target states, roadmaps and architecture assurance approaches within large-scale transformation programmes.
• Deep expertise in data management disciplines including data modelling, governance, metadata management, lineage, data quality and enterprise data standards.
• Strong understanding of data integration, APIs, modern analytical architectures, and cloud or hybrid data platforms, with experience across technologies such as Azure, Fabric, Purview, AI Foundry, Databricks, Snowflake, AWS and Google Cloud.
• Practical experience designing AI, ML and Generative AI solutions, including LLMs, RAG, AI agents and enterprise AI integration, while applying Responsible AI principles by design.
• Ability to translate business and operational challenges into scalable data and technology solutions, supported by strong consulting, technical leadership and stakeholder management skills.
• Strong knowledge of security, privacy and regulatory compliance requirements, including the application of recognised standards such as ISO/IEC 27001, ISO/IEC 27701 and ISO/IEC 42001; relevant architecture, cloud, data or AI certifications are advantageous.
