Senior Databricks Data Engineer

The role

Job description: 

You design and build large scale data platforms on Databricks that support analytics, AI, and advanced data use cases in production environments. By delivering robust, performant, and scalable data pipelines, you enable reliable downstream analytics and AI consumption. You work with Databricks as a core platform, leveraging Spark and lakehouse patterns to transform raw data into trusted, high‑quality data products. You join a strong Data and AI community where engineering excellence, technical ownership, and continuous learning are central. 

Your role: 

You design, implement, and operate Databricks‑based data solutions in complex enterprise environments. You take ownership of end‑to‑end Databricks workloads, from ingestion and transformation to optimization and reliable delivery. You work closely with data architects, analytics consultants, and client teams to ensure data solutions are scalable, performant, and fit for production use. 

Core responsibilities 

• Design and build scalable data pipelines using Databricks and Spark 
• Implement transformation patterns using PySpark and SQL 
• Apply lakehouse and Delta Lake patterns for reliable data processing 
• Optimize performance, stability, and cost of Databricks workloads 
• Collaborate with architects and engineering teams on platform design choices 
• Ensure data availability and quality for analytics, AI, and advanced use cases 

Your profile: 

Must haves   

• Strong experience as a senior data engineer working with Databricks 
• Hands‑on experience with Spark and PySpark in production environments 
• Solid experience with Databricks lakehouse concepts and Delta Lake 
• Strong knowledge of SQL and data modeling concepts 
• Professional working proficiency in English and Dutch is required. Knowledge of French is a strong advantage. 

Nice to haves   

• Experience with performance tuning and cost optimization on Databricks 
• Experience in regulated or enterprise environments 
• Consulting or customer‑facing experience
