Your Role
As a HAZOP/LOPA Lead, you will be a key pillar within our process safety team, owning the full lifecycle of safety studies for both new and existing installations. You will facilitate critical risk assessments, guide multidisciplinary teams, and act as a trusted expert across capital projects and remediation efforts.
In this role you will play a key role in:
- Leading and facilitating end-to-end HAZOP and LOPA studies — from preparation and workshop facilitation through to structured, high-quality reporting
- Analysing and assessing process risks across a wide range of installations including reactors, dryers, centrifuges, storage tanks, and utilities systems
- Supporting both greenfield and brownfield capital projects, spanning from basic engineering through to as-built, as well as the remediation and revalidation of existing safety studies
- Providing expert recommendations to engineering and project teams to underpin safe design and sound operational decision-making
- Acting as a process safety sounding board and trusted advisor, collaborating closely with Process Engineers, EHS specialists, HAZOP scribes, and junior team members
- Ensuring rigorous documentation standards and consistent quality across all safety study outputs
Your Profile
We are looking for a process safety professional who combines technical depth with strong facilitation skills and a genuine commitment to safety excellence. You bring both analytical rigour and the ability to communicate complex safety concepts clearly to diverse stakeholders.
- You have a minimum of 1 year of proven, hands-on experience leading HAZOP and LOPA studies in an industrial environment, with strong grounding in process safety principles and methodologies
- You are a confident facilitator of multidisciplinary workshops, able to manage group dynamics, keep studies on track, and ensure all voices are heard and documented accurately
- You communicate with clarity and credibility, with well-developed stakeholder management skills that allow you to engage effectively across engineering, operations, and safety functions
- You are fluent in Dutch, enabling effective collaboration within the local team and with site stakeholders in Geel
- Ideally, you hold a Master's degree in Chemical Engineering, Process Safety, or a related field, and have experience working in pharmaceutical and/or chemical industry environments
- Knowledge of Functional Safety (SIL), Explosion Safety (ATEX), PSV/RD/orifice calculations, or machine safety is considered a strong asset
